    General Product Information


    ROCKWOOL stone wool products are made of basalt, a volcanic stone.
    ROCKWOOL stone wool products are non-combustible with a
    melting point of approximately 1000C. They are particularly
    suitable for thermal insulation, fire protection and sound reduction/absorption.

    ROCKWOOL stone wool is inorganic and contains no nutritious substance. Therefore it will not be attacked by microorganisms. Stone wool will not rot and does not attract vermin.
    No CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs or asbestos are used in the manufacture of ROCKWOOL stone wool products.

    Common applications

    Packaging and storage

    RockTech B is a lightweight insulation blanket manufactured in


    a variety of thicknesses, suitable for thermal insulation, fire
    protection and sound attenuation of both flat and curved surfaces of tanks, vessels, boilers and ducts. It is supplied in compressed roll form for ease of installation over large areas.

    RockTech B is shrink-wrapped in polyethylene sheets for ease


    of handling, transportation, storage and identification. Products should be stored indoors or under a waterproof covering.
    For the recommended guidelines on proper storage and handling practices, please refer to your local representative.

    Water Absorption

    RockTech B products are highly water repellent, non-hygroscopic and non-capillary.


    The products are tested in accordance to BS 2972 (partial immersion) / EN1609 ( 0.5kg/m2).

    Water Vapour Sorption

    The water vapour sorption is tested in accordance with ASTM C 1104/C 1104 M is 0.04% (vol.).

    Corrosion Resistance

    ROCKWOOL stone wool does not attack or damage other materials with which it comes into contact,
    neither does it further the corrosion of metal. No aggressive gasses are released when influenced by
    fire. RockTech B meets the requirements for use over stainless steel in accordance with ASTM C 795.

    Compliance to Standards

    RockTech B conforms to BS 3958 Part 5, Specification for bonded man-made mineral fibre slabs,
    Thermal Insulating materials on pipes, ductwork and equipment. Conforms to ASTM C553 Standard
    Specification for Mineral Fibre Blanket Thermal Insulation For Commercial and Industrial Applications.
