Dear Editor,
Dear Editor,
Dear Liz,
Messenger
The man whispered, God, speak to me,
And the meadow lark sang,
The man did not hear.
So the man yelled, God speak to me,
And the thunder rolled across the sky,
But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said,
God let me see you and a star shone brightly,
But the man did not notice.
And the man shouted,
God show me a miracle,
And a life was born but the man did not know.
So the man cried out in despair,
Touch me God and let me know you are here,
Whereupon God reached down and touched
the man,
But the man brushed the butterfly away,
And walked away unknowingly.....

Cromer West
Promenade
Draft designs have been unveiled for the revitalisation of the Cromer West Promenade which
sustained significant damage during the
2013 tidal surge.
Stakeholders gathered to hear the proposals and
view visuals being brought forward. The aim
is to provide a long-term master plan for the
holistic improvement of the west promenade
to make it a vibrant and popular destination
throughout the year.
Sheila Oxtoby, Chief Executive at NNDC, said:
Cromer West Promenade provides an excellent
platform to enhance visitors experience and for
locals to enjoy. It will also encourage the use
of the better bathing beaches to the west of
the pier and the beautiful vistas towards the
wilder shore and cliff lines towards the west

Staying Healthy
On Your Travels
A travel risk assessment & travel vaccinations
are an essential part of holiday planning,
particularly if your journey takes you to an
exotic destination or off the beaten track.
The rise in worldwide and adventurous tourism
has seen a massive increase in people travelling
to far flung destinations. This leads to exposure
to diseases that dont, or are less likely to, occur
at home. These are diseases against which we
have no natural immunity, and against which
we are not routinely immunised in the UK.
Illnesses such as hepatitis A, typhoid, rabies and
malaria might not only spoil your holiday but
might pose a threat to your life.
Before travelling outside the UK it is important
to check whether you require any vaccinations to
protect you. Vaccination courses need to be planned
well in advance as some involve a course of
injections at specified time intervals and some
vaccinations cant be given together.
Travel advice and vaccination can be accessed at
most GP surgeries and at specialist travel clinics.
At Mundesley Medical Centre we offer comprehensive travel advice and a full range of travel
vaccinations (apart from yellow fever vaccine
which is administered at designated yellow
fever vaccination centres).
We ask you to complete a travel questionnaire at
least 8 weeks before your intended departure date.
This form includes questions about your trip and
about your medical and vaccination history.
If you arrange travel with some spontaneity or
overlook seeking travel advice and it is less than
8 weeks until your date of departure it may be
advisable to go to a specialist travel clinic as
your GP surgery may not be able to arrange
everything on time.
A practice nurse with training in travel medicine
will check your vaccination history and the up
to date requirements for your travel destination
and then you will be contacted to advise you if
you require an appointment or not.
An appointment will be booked if required and
you will be asked to pay for any vaccination
charges in advance.
GP surgeries have a range of travel vaccines in
stock but do order some vaccines on a patient
specific basis which can take at least a week
to arrive.
The NHS does not usually cover travellers for
vaccinations relating to exotic travel, although
some travel vaccines, such as hepatitis A, are
free nonetheless. Whilst this may seem expensive,
it is usually a small sum relative to the costs of
your travel, and safe-guarding your health should
be considered an essential part of any trip.
The protection offered by vaccinations may not
always be 100% but will greatly reduce your
chances of acquiring the disease, and in many
cases the protection level is extremely high.
You will be advised about booster vaccines,
but protection will usually last well beyond
the duration of your proposed holiday and
make it a safer one.
There are many other steps you can take to
reduce your exposure to disease. You should
think of vaccination as an important part of
your protection, but not the only part.
There isnt a vaccine available for every disease
and even where a vaccine is available, vaccination
should not be all you rely on to protect yourself.
