TYPES of POEM

ACROSTIC POEM

A rainbow plays in the water spray


It hides in a chandelier.
It always seems to find its way
through the glass when light is near.

Sweet girl.
Has a sweet heart.

A nice friend.
Rocks this world.
On the best friend list.
Never alone.
SHAPE (or CONCRETE):
Shape poems are made up of words
that have been placed in such a way
that they make the shape of an object
and also use words to describe the
object.

HAIKU:
Haiku consists of 3 lines and
17 syllables.
Each line has a set number of syllables

Line 1 5 syllables
Line 2 7 syllables
Line 3 5 syllables

An Example of a Haiku

DIAMANTE:
The Diamante is a form similar to
the Cinquain. The text forms the
shape of a diamond.

are types of poems which


have the repetition of the same or
similar sounds at the end of two or
more words most often at the ends of
lines.

Autobiographical Poetry
An autobiographical poem is a poem
you write about yourself. This format is
also referred to as a bio poem.
