ABSTRACT
This report was commissioned to build a new invention for the Parkinsons
patient called Anti-Tremor Glove since the Parkinsons patient cannot handle their
daily activities in proper way and recommend how the Anti-Tremor Gloves would
help them to overcome the vibration on the patients hand. The research draws
attention to the fact that nearly one million people in the United State of America
out of about 7-10 million people in the world are living with Parkinson's disease.
The cause is unknown, and although there is presently no cure, there are
treatment options such as medication and surgery to manage its symptoms.
Further investigation, scientists are also exploring the idea that loss of cells in
other areas of the brain and body contribute to Parkinsons. For example,
researchers have discovered that the hallmark sign of Parkinsons disease
clumps of a protein alpha-synuclein, which are also called Lewy Bodies are found
not only in the mid-brain but also in the brain stem and the olfactory bulb. (too
long)
ATG is the latest invention put forward by the Parkinsons patient. The report
evaluates this new invention and concludes that it would be an ideal invention to
meet challenge presented by the market and could satisfy the new consumer
demand since it uses significantly weight and endorsed by renowned health
experts.
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 PROBLEM STATEMENT
In 2014 statistics stated by the healthsite, about 7-10 million people in the world
are living with Parkinsons disease. Parkinsons disease is a condition affecting
the brain that is commonly found in the elderly population. Patients with
Parkinsons have altered motor functions. They have to struggle a lot to carry out
movements at a normal speed. For them, simple things like walking, balancing
themselves, eating or turning around are also challenging. Because of these
problems, a lot of patients lead a poor quality of life and are even prone to
chronic depression. Based on the statistic stated, there were a lot of people
suffering from this disease. As a human being, they have the right to carry out
their daily activities like others did. Most of them have their own career that can
be flourished and impossible turning them to a better person. To overcome the
tremor of the Parkinson patient, the Anti-Tremor Glove (ATG) was made. The ATG
glove enhances the grip of the patient by encounter the patients tremor with the
weight on it to help them in carrying out their routine life better.
1.2 OBJECTIVES
Objectives are crucial in making a success of a project. Objectives ought to
be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. Hence, the
objectives of our project are:
To determine the effectiveness of product (Anti-Tremor Glove) with Parkinson
patient.
To help Parkinson patient to carry out their daily activities efficiently.
To reduce the vibration on the patients hand due to the illness.

Our team has covered all the expenses along this project. We have collected
money from eleven members to pay RM 7.10 each in total of RM 78.10. We had
bought the glove, bandage, weight and tape and come out with the complete
prototype on the presentation day. In addition, we have got a discount for the
poster A1 and managed to lowered the price to RM 25.00. (no table, expenses)
1.4 RESPONSIBILITY
2.1 PLANNING
Our team came up with a problem that all Parkinsons patients are facing,
which is, the disability to handle things properly or dropping it numerous times
caused by the vibration. This, of course effect their daily activities plus their
emotional state having to think that they arent normal. Thus, we decided to
construct a product called, the Anti-Tremor Glove. This product aims to make
them live like a normal people do. The team members that are in-charge in
building the prototype went out and bought the materials using our teams
collected money. The materials that we bought for the prototype are a pair of
glove, batteries, tape and sewing materials. We divided the team members into
a smaller groups to do certain tasks that are assigned to them. The proposal
team are in-charge in the paperwork, the poster team are in-charge in the
making our products poster and the presentation team will present about the
product on the Open Day.
2.2 RESEARCH
Through reading and brainstorming by each member in our team, we finally had
come up with an idea adapted from the Parkinson spoon, with the concept of A
Mother Holding the Hands of Her Child. In this concept, when a child is throwing
a tantrum, a mother will be able to calm her child down by holding her childs
hand. We extract the concept and applied it on our product where when the
Parkinsons patient is using the Anti-Tremor Glove, the weights that are attached
to the glove will virtually act as the mothers hand from the original concept
which will hold the patients hand and slows down the vibration. Thus, the
Parkinson patient will be able to handle objects better than before using the
equipment.
2.4 METHODOLOGY
2.4.1 DISCUSSION
The group members suggested some ideas and it is presented on the Open
Day. The idea is chosen by vote of majority by our team members. Our team had
another discussion regarding the project from time to time.
2.4.2 PROPOSAL
The group members who are responsible for the making of proposal planned
on how the project development turns out. The proposal team made sure that
the project is fully organized, complete on time and on budget.
2.4.5 REPORT
After the presentation at the Open Day, a report is made for the product from
the initial process to the end process of making and presenting the project. The
report are also including the evaluation data and responses of the people about
the project mainly for analysis.
3.1.2 : Recommendations
Recommendations from the team member are noted after the discussion
and is taken into account when prototype is made. Some of the recommendation
are the glove material must be elastic and comfortable for movement. It is very
necessary so that the glove will not block the user movement and making the
tremor worse. Furthermore, the glove must be looking attractive so that it will
attract the patient to wear it as an accessories. However, some people does not
like to be seen with a helping aid device. Thus, the glove may be design in a way
the person wearing it will not notice it presence.
3.1.3 : Problems
The crucial problems that our team faced are to design the Smart ATG. The
mechanism in the device need more time and budget for it to happen. Also, we
do not have the speciality to manage the electric circuit. Smart ATG is a device
that are connected to the glove, it will detect the amount of the patient tremor
and produce a vibration in the opposite direction producing a feeling like putting
weight on the glove. Then, our team decided to use the manual weight ATG that
uses simple weight that can be change on the glove manually. The greater the
tremor, the heavier weight used. Another problem faced, is that not everyone is
No.

Those are the total marks given by the visitors in the evaluation forms. Most of
the visitors rate our answers in range 4 to 5. Only some of them rate 3 and
below, maybe they do not understand the concept or our device fully.
The evaluation forms that we provide also included how much would the visitors
pay for the Anti-Tremor Glove and any suggestion to improve our product. The
average range price is between RM50 to RM150, the highest price we get are
RM1000 while the lowest are RM5. Also, some visitors suggest for the ATG to be
lighter, more decorative and more safety features that we will surely take into
account for the future adjustment. Clearly, ATG is a product that is beneficial to
the society and they are willing to pay at a reasonable price while some are
willing to pay at a high price.

Chapter 4 : Conclusion
4.1 : Future prospect
Anti-Tremor Glove is a product to solve the tremor cause by Parkinson
disease. The glove reduce the vibration from the patient hands, due to that
modern technology with vast expertise especially in nanotechnology may be
applied in Anti-Tremor Glove. The concept of the glove itself can be improvised
directly into the patient skin given the right knowledge and expertise. Not only
the tremor can be entirely be solved, other nerves diseases may now uses ATG
concept as a solution. Accident victims who lack control in their own nerves
movement may be guided or helped with ATG vibration concept.
Furthermore, ATG vibration concept may be applied in other industries that
had trouble with tremor. For example, construction site which may have
disturbing vibration from the machines may be solved with anti-vibration of ATG
concept. This will help construction to go smoothly without problem, faster than
scheduled and maybe without noise pollution. However, a much more complex
mechanism and studies are needed for a bigger tremor in machines and
buildings.
ATG promises a good business marketing as it is a diseases related product. But
not to forget, if the concept of glove still applies in the future, different design
and material can be use. As we all know, cold climate region may need a thicker
glove such as winter glove, hot climate region may need thin elastic material like
synthetic type. Camouflage glove may be produce in skin colour or others
concept for people who are uncomfortable seeing with a helping aid devices.
4.2
: Successfullness
The success of this project is undeniable as it fully accomplished the
objectives. Firstly, to reduce the vibration on the patients hand due to the illness.
Anti-Tremor Glove reach the objective as it had shown to reduce the patient
tremor up to 70%. Secondly, to help Parkinson patient to carry out their daily
activities efficiently. With the tremor reduced, Parkinson patient can grip and
move objects with their hand better. Clearly, ATG help the patients to carry put
their daily life efficiently. Lastly, to determine the effectiveness of product (Anti-
11
Tremor Glove) with Parkinson patient. It has been proven that ATG reduced the
tremor and help the patients in their daily activities, thus can be concluded that
Anti-Tremor Glove are effective product for Parkinson patients and a success
project by accomplishing all objectives, a great concept that can be expand in
the future, also an innovation for a better world and for whole of mankind.
