Two black male suspects armed with handguns robbed an auto parts store on November 18, 2015. An employee was shot multiple times during the robbery and died at the scene. Police have identified Joshua Dukes, 19, as one of the suspects and have charged him with capital murder. Dukes is also being held on three counts of capital murder relating to separate shootings and robberies that occurred in March and February 2016. Investigators are still seeking to identify the second suspect involved in the auto parts store robbery and are asking the public to contact them with any information.

MEDIA / PUBLIC RELEASE Date: June 5, 2016 Commander Tyree Jones Major Investigations/Office of Public Information Tel #: 601-960-2302 or 601-960-1278 [email protected] On Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at approx. 7:26 PM, Jackson Police Officers responded to OReillys Auto Parts at 2327 Livingston Rd. regarding an armed robbery of a business. Upon officers arrival it was learned that the business had been robbed by two black male subjects armed with handguns. They fled the scene running north on Livingston Rd. The suspects were described as wearing dark colored clothing with black hoods. An employee, later identified as Brodrick Smith, 36 yoa was shot multiple times during the course of the robbery. He was pronounced deceased on scene. During the course of the investigation, Robbery/Homicide Detectives developed and identified Joshua Dukes as one of the suspects involved in this incident. He has been charged with one count of Capital Murder stemming from this investigation. Dukes is currently being held at the Hinds County Detention Center on three counts of Capital Murder stemming from his alleged involvement in the shooting deaths and robberies of Daniel Omar Gomez and Eli Nunez on March 5, 2016 at 4906 Westhaven Blvd., and for his alleged involvement in the shooting death and robbery of James Hankins on February 13, 2016 at 843 McClure Rd. This case is still under investigation and the Jackson Police Department needs the publics assistance with identifying the second suspect involved in this incident.
