    MULTI-SKILLING SCHEME

    An Alternative Upgrading Path for the Construction Workforce


    The Building and Construction Authority will be introducing a new
    Multi-Skilling Scheme to provide an alternative pathway for the
    industry to upgrade their experienced workers as Higher Skilled
    workers.
    The new Multi-Skilling Scheme complements the CoreTrade
    Scheme. CoreTrade recognises workers specialising in key construction trades, whereas the Multi-Skilling Scheme registers
    workers competent in multiple trade skills. Multi-Skilled workers
    offer greater flexibility in deployment on site and help to enhance
    productivity by reducing productivity downtime.

    What are the requirements to be a Multi-Skilled worker?


    1. Having 2 acceptable certifications:a) For first certification:
    Any SEC or Skills Evaluation Certificate (Knowledge), SEC(K), certifications ; or
    Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) certification, for Malaysian work permit holders.
    b) For second certification:
    Acceptable SEC(K) trade certification in a different trade from the first certification.
    2. Having a minimum of 4 years of construction experience in Singapore.

    Continual Educational Training Requirements


    For the bi-annual renewal of registration, multi-skilled workers would be subjected to Continuing Education
    & Training (CET) requirements.

    How to apply?
    Application for registration as a Multi-Skilled worker may be submitted to BCA online at http://
    www.bca.gov.sg starting from 1 July 2012.
