CONCENTRATES
( First Revision)

FO R E WO RD
0.1 This Indian Standard (First Revision ) was adopted by the Indian
Standards I nstitution on 25 October 1979, after the draft finalized by
the Pest Control Sectioned Committee had been approved by the
Agric.ultural and Food Products Division Council and the Chemical
Division Council.
0.2 Fenitrothion ernulsifiabje concentrates are largely used in the control
of insect pests of agricultural and public health importance,
0.3 Fenitrothion emulsifiable concentrate form ilations are genera1Iy
manufactured to contain 50 percent (11l/t") and 82-5 percent (mlm) ~f
fenitrothion. 82-5 percent i mlm ], emulsifiable concentrate is used t>r
aerial spraying.
,
0.4 This standard was first published in 1969. Six amendments to tlis
were issued frorn time to time, This revision incorporates six amendments issued to t he earlier version and test method has boen modified. .
0.5 In the preparation of this standard due consideration has been given
to the provisions of the Insecticides Act, 1968 and the Rules framed
thereunder. However, this standard is subject to the restrictions imposed
under these, wherever applicable,
0.6 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of
this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated,
expressing the result of a test or ana lysis, shall be rounded off in
accordance with IS: 2..t960. The number of significant places retained
in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value
in this standard .
Rule for rounding off numerical values ( "vistd).

1. SCOPE
1.1 This standard prescribes the requirements and the methods of
sampling and test for fenitrothion emulsifiable concentrates,
2. REQ,UIREMENTS
2.1 CODCltitueDts - TIlt' material shall consist of fenitrothion, technical,
dissolved in suitable solventts), together with emulsifying agenns), and
with or without stabilizerfs).
2.1.1 Fenirrothion, technical, employed in the manufacture of cmulsifiable concentrates shall conform to IS : 5280.. 1969*.
2.2 Phy.ical- The material shall comply with the physical requirements specified in 2.2.1 to 2.2.4.
2.2.1 Description - The mater ial shall he in the {orin of clear, stable
homogeneous liquid, free from foreign matter. Suspended matter shall
be negligible. It shall form a suspension suitable for spray on dilution
with water.
2.2.2 Cold Test - No turbidity or separation of solid or oily matter
or both shall occur when the material is subjected to the cold test
at 10C as prescribed in 13.1 of IS : 6940-1973t, or at any other lower
temperature as agreed to between the purchaser and the supplier.
Introduction of a seeding crystal is not necessary for the tesr.
2.2.3 Flash

3.2.1 Each container may also be marked with the lSI certification
Mark.
NOTK - The usc of the lSI Certific arion Mark is governed by the provisions of
the Indian Standards Institution (Certification Marks) Act and the Rules and
Regulations made thereunder. The lSI Mark on products covered by an Indian
Standard ('()llvt'Y~ the assurance that thry have been produced to comply with therequirements of that standard under a well ..d efined system of inspection, resting and
quality control which is devised and supervised by lSI and opcr.ued by the proflucf;'r. lSI marked products ar also continuously checked by lSI for c.... nformity
to that standard as a further s!'ft'guard. Details of conditions under whk h it Iiceru ~
10r the use of the lSI ~('rtifi( ell ion Mark may be granted to manufacturers or
processors, may h(.\ obtained from thp Indian Standards institution.
4. SAMPLING
4.1 Representative samples of the material shall be drawn as prescribed
in 'Indian Standard Methods for sampling of pt'sticidf's and their
formulations' ( under prf!,aratif"l ).
No'l'}~ - Till such time the standard under preparation is published, the maner
shall be a~ agrC't'd to between the conrvrnrd parties.
5. TESTS
5.1 "rests shall be carried out hy the appropriate methods referred
to in 2.2.1 to 2.2.4, 2.3.1 and 2.3.2.
