    Dear Dr. Wittman,

    I am writing to apply for the position of Part-Time Lecturer of English in


    the area of composition. My graduate work at California State
    Stanislaus focuses, in part, on research pedagogy. The instruction Ive
    received in both ENGL 5010 and ENGL 5894 coupled with my
    experience as K12 teacher make me well suited for this position.

    As can be seen from my curriculum vitae, I have a considerable


    amount of experience in secondary education and wish to extend the
    breadth of my experience by instructing in a post-secondary setting.
    Having taught at Turlock High School for two years, preceded by three
    years at Turlock Junior High School, I feel I have gained a substantial
    amount of insight regarding the contexts of incoming college freshmen
    from Stanislaus County.

    I have spent considerable time with Dr. Matthew Moberly discussing


    modes of first-year composition instruction, developing syllabi, and
    determining suitable learning outcomes for the course.

    I have included a copy of my teaching philosophy and my curriculum


    vitae. Please let me know if you would like any other materials. I look
