Wake Turbulence Categorization and Separation Minima (RECAT-EU)
RECAT-EU standards applied. See RSI EUR.
Reduction of Wake Turbulence Separation Minima
In order to fully benefit from this reduction of wake turbulence separation minima, crews must strictly
respect the assigned speeds and minimize RWY occupancy time. If unable to maintain these speeds
report to ATC as soon as possible.
Low Visibility Procedures
Specific measures about LVP PROC:
Depending on the actual WX conditions on each pair of RWYs, LVP may be in use on one pair only, the
2nd pair operating CAT I APCH. This information will be transmitted by ATIS. RWYs for either ARR or DEP,
are allocated according to objective criteria of air traffic optimization. Crews are requested to comply
with the RWY assigned on first contact with De Gaulle, the only exemption would be given for flight safety
reasons.
Transponder Mode S
Select assigned transponder Mode A and activate Mode S, set to AUTO if technically AVBL;
- Outbound taxiing ACFT: From push-back or taxi, whichever comes earlier.
- Inbound taxiing ACFT: After LDG, continuously until fully parked on stand.
- Other cases of ACFT movement: Set Mode A code 2000.
Select ACFT identification feature or ACFT registration, before activating transponder.

RWY 09R/27L, 08L/26R: Heavy ACFT may REQ full length on flight data 30min PN. Be alert to RWY
allocation and RWY HLDG instructions before crossing RWY 08L/26R or RWY 09R/27L and RWY crossing
CLR.
RWY 08R/26L or RWY 09L/27R: When RWY vacated remain on TWR FREQ and readback CLR systematic
to maintain on allocated TWY before crossing inner RWY 08L/26R or RWY 09R/27L.
Vacate RWY in shortest possible time; during LVP use first possible high-speed turn-off.
Vacating RWY is only authorized on turn-offs having an angle of less than 45 to RWY QFU.
Excluding LVP, the LDG clearance is given in anticipation upon first contact with TWR. A maximum
number of four ACFT may receive an anticipated CLR, the TWR performing radar and/or visual tracking
of correct CLR of radio ancillaries by the previous ACFT. On LVP landing CLR can be delayed until ACFT
has reached 1NM from THR. LDG must be carried out independently and simultaneously. The same
PROCs must be carried out for TKOF.

Marshaller or VDGS guidance mandatory. If not AVBL, hold PSN on TWY/taxilane CL ahead of stand
lead-in line, notify GND and REQ assistance.
One way traffic system applies
Orange and blue guidelines on:
- TWY G and GE1 AVBL for ACFT with MAX wingspan below 36m / 118ft.
- TWY E0 AVBL for ACFT with MAX wingspan below 36m / 118ft.
- Yellow guidelines for other ACFT.
- Note that some ACFT with optional devices (e.g.winglets), wingspan is over than that of the basic
model and can exceed 34.5m / 113ft. This INFO not always perceptible to APN, therefore pilots
should announce it at the first radio contact.
APU
The use of APU is restricted, except for safety reasons. The use of alternative means like PCA, or GPU
and ACU is mandatory, except in case of system failure or technical incompatibility.
When alternative means for power and air conditioning are AVBL the use of APU is permitted only until
5min after on-block, and 10min before off-block.
When alternative means for power and air conditioning are not AVBL the use of the APU is restricted to:
- 60min before DEP for ACFT with MTOM of less than 140t / 308647lbs;
- 80min before DEP for ACFT with MTOM above140t / 308647lbs;
- 30min after ARR or the time required to disembark all passengers, offload the cargo haul and perform
all OPS related to the ARR.
HLDG Points: Wait at HLDG point CAT I located at 90m / 295ft from RWY axis. Except in LVP conditions
and stop bar lighted transmitted by ATIS, in those conditions wait at HLDG point CAT III located at 150m
/ 492ft.
Parallel RWY OPS
The main points to be kept in mind once vectored for ARR:
- Except when LVP are in force, LDG CLR will be issued on first radio contact with TWR.
- Minimize RWY occupancy time and HOLD SHORT of the DEP RWY (before crossing).
- ACFT vacating RWY 08R/26L or RWY 09L/27R do not cross RWY 08L/26R or RWY 09R/27L without
specific CLR.
- All messages must be carefully read back.
- Do not switch GND FREQs before the crossing of inner RWY is completed.
- When cleared to cross, do not stop taxiing to wait for Taxi CLR; proceed as published on GND charts.
RNAV: In case of lost RNAV 1 capability: the pilot must follow or join the corresponding conventional
PROC or report "NON RNAV".
If no radar guidance CLR when passing over the last waypoint, follow the published RADAR route.

Speed

Pilots should typically expect to be given the following speed restriction:
- IAS 220KT on base leg until intercepting LOC.
- Between 200KT-180KT capturing the glide.
- IAS 160KT on final APCH until D4.
If speed restrictions are not necesarry, ATC will announce clearly: No speed restriction.

Unless otherwise instructed, pilots being vectored are to comply with level and speed instructions on
the relevant DME range or abeam the published restriction point. If unable advise ATC.
Communication
On first contact with ARR, provide call sign, cleared flight level and last cleared WPT only.
When a pilot is transferred from GND to APN:
- Pilots should prepare the APN FREQ on ARR as the GND controller will not state the next FREQ when
transferring ACFT to APN.
- Pilots should only contact the appropriate published APN FREQ according to the stand when
instructed by ATC.
COM Failure
Follow the authorized or planned STAR according to the known or estimated direction. In case of radar
guidance, get back to the initial STAR. Proceed to the IAF at the last assigned LVL which has been
acknowledged if it is AVBL for HLDG, otherwise at the highest LVL in the HLDG pattern. Stay in the HLDG
pattern at this LVL until the latest time of the following:
- EAT.
- Arrival time in the HLDG pattern +10min, then descent in the HLDG pattern to the specified LVL in
the HLDG pattern.
Leave IAF at this LVL and perform APCH procedure until LDG.
RWY 08L/R, 09L/R

Arrival Procedure
Reduction Radar Separation on Final APCH
The MNM radar separation on final APCH may be reduced to 2.5NM provided that:
- the leading ACFT weight category according to the wake turbulence classification is the same as or
less than that of the category of the ACFT following it.
- reduced separation does not apply when following heavy ACFT and B757, A380.
Simultaneous APCH
Simultaneous parallel APCHs apply in all weather conditions to RWY 27R, 27L, 26L and 26R of PARIS
Charles de Gaulle and RWY 27 of PARIS Le Bourget, and to RWY 09L, 09R, 08R and 08L of PARIS Charles
de Gaulle.
For RWY 09L/R and 26L/R maintain a rate of descent not less than 1300ft/min until cleared altitude.
According to the traffic from PARIS Charles de Gaulle and PARIS Le Bourget and in event of MISAP on
RWY 26L, 26R, 27R, 27L, 08R, 08L and 09L, 09R ATC may issue non standard missed APCH instructions
in order to turn at or above 800ft QNH and climb to MNM 1500ft QNH initially. From 800ft QNH onwards
all ATC instructions are radar controlled.
RWY allocation will be confirmed when intercepting ILS. Any excessive deviation from LOC CL and/or
malfunction of LOC or decision to initiate a MISAP must be reported immediately to APPROACH
CONTROL.
Close parallel RWYs
To minimize the risk of confusion between RWY during final APCH:
- the inner RWY ILS is "off" most of the time (except when RVR below 150m, for the need of LVP DEP).
- the inner RWY APCH lighting system and TDZ is switched off.
Do not overshoot RWY CL.
PROC to avoid overshooting of RWY centerline
When radio contact is momentarily not possible and the pilot has been given a radar vector converting

the assigned RWY CL at an angle of less than 70, pilots will take the initiative to intercept the ILS LOC
or any replacement APCH aid unless they have previously been instructed to cross RWY CL by ATC.

Procedure by default without ATC instruction
The lack of ATC CLR to perform the initial APCH may be caused by a late ACC/APP handover (at or after
the IAF) and/or by an overloaded FREQ. In such situation, on reaching the IAF, do not join the last HLDG
pattern but perform by default the initial APCH procedure at the last assigned level which has been
acknowledged. This rule has be followed in all configuration for all arrivals going to LFPG and using IAF
MOPAR, MOBRO (PROP ACFT), LORNI, VEBEK (facing west at LFPG), OKIPA and BANOX handled by APP.
PIREP Request
PIREPs are requested to qualify the braking effectiveness estimated by crews when longitudinal friction
coefficients reported by ATIS are lower than 0,40. The PIREPs must be made on TWR FREQs using the
appropriate words: GOOD, MEDIUM-GOOD, MEDIUM , MEDIUM-POOR, POOR, ZERO.

reaching FL60;

When advised by ground de-icing coordinator, contact GND for taxi and further instructions.

Hold ACFT in position until instructed by ground control.
