Rotary Conditioner

Descripting Information
Descripting Information • Rotary Conditioner

General description
This equipment was specially designed for fulfilling two different functions depending on the process that takes place. It could be a Rotary Conditioner, in
which case its function is the conditioning of oilseeds prior to the flaking process, or it could be a Rotary Dryer in which case its function is the drying and
heating of broken seeds before the pelleting process takes place.

It has a cylindrical body that on one end has a chamber (called steam chamber) where incoming saturated dry steam (with a maximum pressure of 10bar) is
distributed by 117 steel pipes that go across the whole equipment from end to end.

It must be erected in an incline way to ease, together with the rotation, the advance of the product to be conditioned to the exit that is located besides the
steam chamber.

The heating is indirectly produced through the previously mentioned pipes.

These pipes are broached on one side to the interior plate of the steam chamber and on the opposite side they go through the back plate of the equipment.
On this end, the pipes are sealed with lids welded on the inside. These lids have a threaded perforation in the center with a tube that purges incondensable
gases to a toroid collector.

Inside the tubes circulates dry saturated steam with a maximum pressure of 10bar. On the outside they are crossed by broken seed as a curtain. The steam
that condenses during the temperature exchange falls because of gravity trough the pipes to the steam chamber where is collected by three dippers and
extracted from the machine by a siphon system.

The equipment rotates about its axis operated by a pinion-ring gear system and supported by two sets of roller wheels with two metal band wheel con-
nected to the equipment’s body.

The product is introduced to the equipment trough a helicoidally conveyor and goes out trough windows cut in the casing near the steam chamber and then
oriented by a hopper.

This equipment is exteriorly insulated to avoid energy losses through thermal exchange with the environment.

• Draining pipes

The pipes that transport the dry saturated steam are sealed inside by weld-
ing them to circular metallic lids. These lids have threaded perforations from
where the steam that does not condensate is extracted.
The extraction is made by the connection of these threaded perforations and
a circular connector called toroid (01) by draining pipes (02) designed for
that purpose.
