15 th INDEPENDENCE CUP CRICKET

TOURNAMENT - 2017

Rules and Regulations


1. Tournament entry fee Rs. 2000/- per team.

2. All players must be BFW employee with valid employee code number.

3. A player will be permitted to represent only one team throughout the tournament, if the
same player happens to play for two different teams during the course of the tournament,
then both the teams will be terminated.

4. All the participating teams are requested to be present with their team members for the
opening ceremony.

5. The captain or any representatives of the participating teams are requested to be present
during the final day prize distribution ceremony.

6. All the matches will be played at HMT Watch factory ground in case of unavoidable circum-
stances the venue may be shifted to another convenient premise with prior intimation.

7. The decision of the umpires will be final and binding.

8. The organizing committee will provide only the ground, stumps and tennis ball for the
matches.

9. All the matches will be played on a 10 over basis, only two bowlers will be allowed to bowl 3
over’s max, per match. (If in case of unavoidable circumstances matches will be opted to 8
over’s instead of 10 over’s. Then only 2 bowlers will be allowed to bowl 2 over’s max, per match).

10. Field restrictions to be strictly followed:


i) Mandatory Power play for first 2 over’s in an innings. i.e., only 2 players can be out-
side the 30 yard circle & 9 players to be inside the 30 yard circle.
ii) There will be batting power play of 1 over which can be called into effect by bat-
ting side from 5th over to 8th over,i.e, only 3 players can be outside the 30 yard circle &
8 players to be inside the 30 yard circle.
iii) Max. 5 players can be outside the 30 yard circle after the end of power play.
i.e, Max. of 5 players (Including Bowler) are allowed to field on the leg side.
iv) No ball is declared in case a team doesn’t abide by the above said rules.

If the match is scheduled to 8 over’s:

i) Mandatory Power play for first 2 over’s in an innings. i.e, only 2 players can be out-
side the 30 yard circle & 9 players to be inside the 30 yard circle.

11. After completion of league stage if there is a tie between any teams then run rate will be
taken into consideration. Committee’s decision will be final.

12. In case, of a match being canceled on any day due to natural calamities or reasons beyond
the control of the organizers, such matches will be postponed to a convenient date/venue
with a prior intimation.

13. If an ongoing match cannot be completed due to unforeseen circumstances such as rain, or
due to difficult playing conditions, the match will be continued from the same stage (From
where it was stopped) on the next match day.

If the match is tied after completion of the 10 over innings by both the teams, then the ‘Super
over’ will come into play.

Rules for a Super over

A) Team that has batted first in the match will bat second during the super over.
B) 1 over (6 Balls) will be bowled by each team, the captain can select his bowler and
the batting team can choose their batting line up.
C) For example : If a team batting first scores 10 runs and loses 1 wicket, then if the
team batting second happens to lose 2 wickets before scoring 10 runs then the
team that has batted first will win the match. The rule clearly indicates that the
team that loses more wickets during the run chase will be the loser.
D) If the runs scored and the wickets lost is the same after completion of the super
over, then highest number of boundaries (four’s) scored during the innings will
decide the winner, in case the boundaries are also equal, then the highest
number of (six’s) scored will be considered to decide the winner (only the boundaries
and sixes scored in the 10 over innings will be considered) in case even if this is
equal then the match will be decided by the spin of a coin.

15. The organizing committee will not be able to accommodate any revised changes with regard
to date or timings of the matches.

16. The teams should be present in the ground at least 1 hour before the scheduled time of
commencement of their match. In case, the teams do not report within the stipulated time,
the match referee will award a walkover in favor of the team that is present.
17. Tournament will be conducted on a LEAGUE BASIS FOR 1ST ROUND and KNOCK OUT BASIS
FOR REST OF THE TOURNAMENT.

18. Free Hit - The umpire on calling a ‘No ball’ a free hit will be given. (Free hit will be called
only if the bowler oversteps the front line & a full toss a ball which does not bounce from a
bowler reaches the batsman at waist height.) A batsman can have a free swing - only run out
will be declared out.

19. Umpire must appeal in case of any doubt in the bowling action. (If umpire noticed that the
bowler’s action is illegal Umpires have the right to question or even rule out a bowler. Umpire’s
decision will be the final decision. Batsmen can appeal in case of any doubt in the bowling
action.

20. In case of any doubt, regarding the rules and regulations the captain is requested to clarify
the same with the organizers and field umpires before the start of play.

21. Only the captain has the right to talk to umpires and committee members in case of any
dispute.

22. In case of any misbehaviour of any team members/team, committee has the right to disqualify
members/team from the tournament.

23. In any case committee’s decision will be final.

RR* = (no, of runs scored / no, of balls faced) - (no, of runs given / no, of balls bowled)

* if any team gets all out before full quote of 10 over’s of their innings, then calculation will
be considered for full 10 over’s.
