Dear Ms. Smith:

It's my pleasure to recommend Linda Barron for the position of marketing manager at
your company. Ms. Barron and I worked together for just over two years when she was
a marketing coordinator in my department at XYZ company.

During her time at XYZ, Ms. Barron was diligent and insightful. She was eager to both
learn and implement marketing strategies. Ms. Barron mentioned to me that this
prospective role at your company would involve leading initiatives aimed at growing
prospect lists. She's remarkably well-suited for that task. At XYZ, with help from our
whole team, Ms. Barron organized and led our e-learning campaign, geared toward
getting prospects in the door. The campaign was a tremendous success.

I recommend Ms. Barron without reservations — she'd be a stellar addition to your

company. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. You can reach me at
this email address or at (555) 555-5555

Mr. Paul Popon

Dear Mr. Popon,

We have received your recent letter dated May 15, 2013 concerning the services in the
Rio Supermarket. Thank you for writing and giving us an opportunity to look into this
matter. It is important to us to know of issues that arise with our customers, as we want
to ensure full customer satisfaction, especially with a long-time client such as yourself.

Mrs. Revera, whose actions are the basis of your complaint, has been a store manager
at the Rio Supermarket for three years. For all the years she has worked, there has
been no adverse incidents connected with her behaviour. We will coverse with her and
test her for professional suitability. In the meanwhile, I would like to assure you of our
interest and concern. We are always anxious to be informed of situations that could
adversely affect good relations with our customers.

According to the information at the office center that made the delivery of cooled
chicken to our stores, the quality of the consignment was proved by the quality experts
at the place of production. All the papers and certificates were filled correctly. We made
an investigation at the store where you bought the spoiled product, which showed the
appropriate storage of cooled products, including cooled chickens. We are sure that a
bad-quality product was delivered by our supplier. We filed a concern with the company
and are waiting for a solution. For the past week, we had no concerns about spoiled
cooled chickens, so it may be an individual case.

We realize that this is a substantial problem, and apologize for the situation that has
evolved. We would like to send you a $100 gift card to purchase any product around the
United Kingdom. Please accept our apology for this spoiled product. We promise that
we will improve our supplying system with reliable suppliers to avoid this problem from
happening in the future.

Sincerely,

That Awful Company
Somewhere Awful
UR BAD

June 15, 2016

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing today to complain of the poor service I received from your company on
June 12, 2016. I was visited by a representative of That Awful Company, Mr. Madman,
at my home on that day.

Mr. Madman was one hour late for his appointment and offered nothing by way of
apology when he arrived at noon. Your representative did not remove his muddy shoes
upon entering my house, and consequently left a trail of dirt in the hallway. Mr. Madman
then proceeded to present a range of products to me that I had specifically told his
assistant by telephone I was not interested in. I repeatedly tried to ask your
representative about the products that were of interest to me, but he refused to deal
with my questions. We ended our meeting after 25 minutes without either of us having
accomplished anything.

I am most annoyed that I wasted a morning (and half a day's vacation) waiting for Mr.
Madman to show up. My impression of That Awful Company has been tarnished, and I
am now concerned about how my existing business is being managed by your firm.
Furthermore, Mr. Madman's inability to remove his muddy shoes has meant that I have
had to engage the services, and incur the expense, of a professional carpet cleaner.

I trust this is not the way That Awful Company wishes to conduct business with valued
customers—I have been with you since the company was founded and have never
encountered such treatment before. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss matters
further and to learn of how you propose to prevent a similar situation from recurring. I
look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Darrel Perez

John Q. Smith Memorial Scholarship

Dear Scholarship Donor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in funding
the John Q. Smith Memorial Scholarship. I am very honored to be the recipient of
this award.

I am currently a sophomore majoring in Education, and my GPA is 3.83. I have

completed 37 credit hours by taking classes as a part-time student for the last
three years. My goal is to complete my degree here at the University of Michigan-
Flint and then teach high school French and English in the southeastern part of
Michigan.

While attending school I have been involved with the Future Teachers of America
and Lambda Lambda service organization. We provide tutoring and mentoring on
a weekly basis to two elementary schools located near the university campus. I
have also helped organize three campus blood drives and winter coat collection.

Receiving this scholarship motivates me to maintain my GPA and complete my

degree. I look forward to being able to give back to the community once I begin
my career teaching. I thank you for your confidence and willingness to help me
achieve my goals.

Sincerely,

Dear Ms. Gonzalez:

Re: Commendation - Shannon Berloitz

The purpose of this letter is to formally and publicly commend Shannon Berloitz
for the excellent service she provided to Target-Track Inc. throughout the ramp-
up and launch of our new product line. In my opinion, the level of service that Ms.
Berloitz extended to our company was far beyond our expectations.

I have never before written a letter like this on an entirely unsolicited basis.
However, in this case I was so impressed by the support and service provided by
Ms.Berloitz and her small team of marketing and communications specialists that
I felt compelled to go on record with my praise.

What particularly impressed me about the level of service provided by Ms.

Berloitz et al was that there were no additional financial rewards involved. It
appears that it was simply the team's extraordinary commitment to excellence in
customer service and support that motivated them to always go the extra mile.

In closing, I believe that Shannon Berloitz and her team truly deserve to be
congratulated and rewarded for providing customer service and support well
beyond the expectations of our company on the Target-Track project.

Very sincerely,

Subject: Inappropriate use of time on Google Doodle games

Coworkers,

It has come to my attention that many in the office have been spending time on the
Google home page microgames. This memo is a reminder to use your work hours for
work.

According to a recent article, the estimated daily cost of people collectively playing
these games instead of working is over $120 million—which is calculated based on the
daily average increased time spent on the Google home page (36 seconds).

If these estimates are applied to our 600 office employees, this results in a nearly $700
weekly loss.

This is a conservative estimate considering the extensive discussions that occur about
beating the office's current high score. The extra cost quickly adds up.

Of course, we don't want you to view our organization as a place of drudgery and
draconian rules. I encourage a fun and competitive environment, and I recognize that
we certainly won't be profitable if you are unhappy or dissatisfied with your jobs. This is
just a reminder to be careful with your use of company time.

Thank you,

The Manager
