“The Ballad of a Psychopath”
Charlie Ker-Gray
Scene One
EXT: DIDCOT – TOP OF A HILL – MIDDAY
Slow tilt shot from the picturesque sky to reveal Killer sitting on
a park bench with his girlfriend. They are alone, drinking coffee
seemingly having an important conversation but Killer is clearly not
interested in anything his Girlfriend has to say.
Girlfriend:
Well, none of that matters. I still love you.
Killer (Voice Over):
Oh My God… *sigh* I wanna rip off your head and throw it in a
blender.
Girlfriend:
Are you even listening to me?
Killer:
Huh? *sips coffee* Love you too. I’ve got to go, see ya later.
He gets up, loosens his collar and walks away. “Digital
Versicolor” by Glass Candy begins to play. He walks to his car
(a Triumph GT6 Overdrive)
Killer (Voice Over):
I’ve always hated relationships, got no time for them you see.
She keeps quiet and that’s all that matters, could be worse.
After all, she’ll be dead by next month who knows? Not even me
half the time.
Slams the Car door and the track increases in volume beginning
the first music scene. The whole sequence takes place inside
his car, taking inspiration from “Drive” in regards to how it
is filmed and appears aesthetically.

Scene Two
EXT: HOUSE – DRIVEWAY – AFTERNOON
Pan shot as Killer arrives outside a large house, the road is empty
and no one can be seen around him. He stops the car on the opposite
side of the road and heads to the gates. Upon entry he discovers
that it is in fact locked, so he peers over the high fence standing
on a plant pot.
KILLER:
This is perfect.
He steps down from the plant pot carefully and begins to
stretch out, a comical warm up. A dog walker comes seemingly
out of nowhere and waves over to Killer unaware that he is not
from the neighbourhood.
DOG WALKER:
*Waving* Hello? Something wrong?
KILLER (Voice Over):
His back is turned to the Dog Walker but sees him over his
shoulder.
Oh for fuc-
KILLER:
Turning around.
Ahaha no, only gone and lost my keys. Thanks for asking though
DOG WALKER:
Would you like a hand over?
Heading to cross the road
KILLER:
*aggressively* No.
The dog walker appears scared and walks off quickly down the
road, looking back once to see Killer shooing him away.

SCENE TWO (CONT’D)
EXT: HOUSE – DRIVEWAY – AFTERNOON
Killer proceeds to grab a large hammer from his car, throwing it
over the high fence before following its trail. He struggles at
first leaning on the plant pot and letter box until he eventually
manages to hoist himself over.
KILLER (Voice Over):
You see, I’m successful, wealthy, with a long lasting career;
but there’s no high. No release. Guy needs a break sometime ya
know?
Hopping down from the fence, Killer walks towards the large
house with a ‘spring in his step’. He enters the home looking
around and investigating seemingly normal items (photos etc)
KILLER:
Jeez I’m starving
He takes a bite from an apple to quench his hunger, but after
one bite
Ugh!
He spits out the apple, looks at it to find there is a stray
hair in it.
KILLER (Voice Over):
What kind of vile human being would set such a horrific trap?
People these days make me sick
Throws the apple at the wall
KILLER:
Hmmmmm, lets lighten the mood
He walks over to the stereo system
KILLER (Voice Over):
Flicking through the CD collection
No, no, no, no, no… Ooh tempting
He pulls out a joke album, a la “Now That’s What I Call Music”

SCENE TWO (CONT’D)
INT: HOUSE – KITCHEN – AFTERNOON
He finds the album “77” by Talking Heads and looks ominously through
the track listing
KILLER:
Hhmmm, ah perfect
He spots “Psychokiller” and proceeds to play the CD
Now, time to have some old fashioned fun
He runs into the living room and just as he does so the track
begins to get louder, marking the beginning of the second
musical number to “Psychokiller” by Talking Heads

Scene Three (CONT’D)
INT: HOUSE – KITCHEN – AFTERNOON
Recording himself and truly taking in the destruction that he has
caused in an incredibly odd fashion as it was some sort of edgy
modern art, Killer is interrupted by a disembodied voice.
VOICE:
Hello! I’ve got a package for you!
Killer lifts his head up from the blood and spots a courier on
the driveway, a pan to quick zoom is used.
KILLER:
He scrambles to clean his face and runs towards the driveway
Oh for fuc-
He slips and crashes into one of the dead bodies. He gets up
quickly and runs towards the courier.
COURIER:
Jesus mate, it’s only a small one
He spots the blood covering the Killer’s suit
Ummmmmmmmmm think its best I leave it here
He drops the parcel and heads towards the gate but just as he
grabs the handle Killer hits him over the head with a
flowerpot. Cut to black.
