Round of 16 Results

RESULT: Fedor submits (kimura) the Muscle Sherk at 0:38 of Round 1. Muscle Sherk lasts 2
seconds longer than Tim Sylvia due to heavy conditioning regimen.

#8 Tito Ortiz
#9 B.J. Penn

RESULT: BJ comes out to 'Hawaii'78'. Tito comes out to 'Welcome To The Jungle'. BJ opens up
a big gash under Tito's left eye with a right hook at the end of Round 1, and survives a viscious
ground-and-pound barrage on his back getting pummmelled by Tito in Round 2. An apparition of
Bruddah Iz appears in BJ's corner before Round 3, and tells him to "UA MAU KE EA O KA ‘AINA I
KA PONO O HAWAI’I...AND GOOOOO FOOOR ANNNN uuuuuuUUUUUUPEEERR-
CUUUUUUT". BJ KO's Tito with a blistering supernaturally guided uppercut at 1:07 of Round 3.
#5 Anderson Silva
#12 Semmy Schilt

RESULT: The Spider submits the 7'0" Dutchman with a guillotine choke at 4:07 of Round 1 after
almost getting his head taken off by a spinning Roundhouse Kick from a size 18 shoe. Joe
Rogan: "Brother, you do not want to get into the ring with Anderson Silva! He's a baaaaad man
and his ground control is only getting better and better."

#4 Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

#13 Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira

RESULT: Rampage gets it done. Corners Minotauro against the cage and delivers 24
successive knees to the body and head until ref mercifully steps in at 2:54 of Round 2.

#3 Chuck Liddell
#14 Hong-Man Choi

RESULT: CAN YOU SAY MAJOR UPSET!?!! Liddell dominates Round 1, peppering Hong Man
with strikes but gets caught off guard as Choi lands a roundhouse left that staggers The Iceman
at the start of Round 2 then finishes him off with a massive pummeling of elbows while putting
him in full-guard with his 350lb weight on him at 1:02 of Round 2.

#6 Andrei Arlovski
#11 Wanderlei Silva

RESULT: Arlovski bum rushes Wanderlei to start off the bout... and gets caught with a flying knee
to the head how-do-you-do from Wanderlei which opens up nasty forehead gash. They trade
ground and pounds to a stalemate for the rest of rounds 1 and 2, before Arlovski gets a fortuitous
opening and hammers down an armbar on the Brazilian warrior who taps out at 3:37 of round 3.

#7 Georges St. Pierre

#10 Forrest Griffin (SCRATCH Sub: Kimbo Slice)

RESULT: Forrest breaks a finger in sparring the week before the bout so Kimbo is called up as a
replacement. In interesting turn of events, Kimbo shaves beard for fight, but turns up with huge
afro instead. GSP is all business as he enters the ring to "Samurai by Shurik'n". Lot of French
Canadians have made the trip out to Vegas for this one. Kimbo comes out to a Wu Tang remix of
C.R.E.A.M.. GSP takes Kimbo down and almost gets an armbar 30 seconds into Round 1.
Kimbo gets back up and rocks GSP with a couple of good roundhouses to the ribs. Looks like
GSP felt those! Round 1 ends with Kimbo pummelling GSP with his back to the cage just trying
to survive until the bell. Round 2 Kimbo goes in again and rocks GSP again with a kick to the leg
which wobbles GSP and sends him to the mat! Kimbo tries to get full guard, but can only
manage half... and goes for the Armbar on GSP! Having difficulty getting it -- he holds GSP in
this position for atleast 2 minutes -- as you know GSP has been working with the Canadian
Olympic wrestling team and his submission defense is solid -- AND HE SWITCHES KIMBO UP
ON A REVERSAL AND GETS HIM IN A KIMURA!!! No mistake this time... Kimbo taps out in
obvious pain at 4:48 of the 2nd round! THE CROWD GOES CRAZY!!! G-S-P! G-S-P! G-S-P!

#2 Randy Couture
#15 Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović

RESULT: Some thought this was a tough draw for Randy when the seedings came out -- CroCop
hasn't done much lately but he's certainly dangerous. Randy shows his respect in Round 1
keeping a wary eye on the left leg of CroCop and only venturing in a couple of times to exchange
strikes. 2nd Round is sleepy until the last minute when Couture takes CroCop down and plants a
couple of elbows onto his forehead giving him a big egg right above the right eye. Cut on
CroCop's forehead opens up in Round 3, then... totally against the flow of the fight -- CroCop gets
a powerful side leg kick in to the right side of Randy who winces and goes down on one knee.
CroCop jumps in and lands 4 uncontested strikes before the ref stops it at 3:35 of Round 3...
RANDY IS OUT!!! Rib cracked, tournament done, probably career done... no showdown with
Fedor. CroCop drapes shoulders with Croatian flag as Rogan gives the post fight interview.
