NOTES FOR APPLICANTS – EIZ MEMBERSHIP

Please read through the notes provided below before proceeding with the filling of the application form.

1. MEMBERSHIP CLASSES :
a. The Engineers’ Category consists of the following Membership Classes: Fellow, Professional Member,
Incorporate Member, Associate Member, Graduate Member and Student Engineer. A Degree is a
requirement for one to be admitted under this category.

b. The Technologists’ Category consists of the following Membership Classes: Professional Technologist,
Technologist, Trainee Technologist and Student Technologist. A Diploma is a requirement for one to be
admitted under this membership category.

c. The Technicians’ Category shall consist of the following Membership Classes: Certified Technician,
Technician, Trainee Technician and Student Technician. An Advanced certificate is the requirement for
one to be admitted under this membership category

d. The Craftpersons’ Category shall consist of the following Membership Classes: Master Craftsperson,
Craftsperson, and Trainee Craftsperson and Student Craftsperson. A Crafts certificate is required for
one to be admitted under this membership category.

2. HOW TO APPLY
i. Complete the Application form. Play particular attention on proposers and seconders section
ii. Attach the following documents to your application:
1. Detailed and recent Curriculum Vitae (CV)
2. Copies of degree/diploma/ Certificates certified by a local commissioner of oath
3. Transcript of Results/Statement of results certified by a local commissioner of oath
4. 2 passport size photos
iii. If the applicant is a student, a letter of introduction from the Dean or Head of Department should
be attached.
iv. Once all the required documentation is in order, submit the application with payment of the
processing fee. The schedule of fees is attached. If not attached, please consult Secretariat.

3. If the applicant is a student, a letter of introduction from the Dean or Head of Department is required.

4. Once all the required documentation is in order, an applicant is required to submit the application to
the nearest EIZ secretariat office.

5. Note that once the documents have been verified by Secretariat, the applicant will have to pay the
processing fee only or the processing fee together with the membership fee all at once. This is meant to
facilitate the speedy processing of the application.
6. The processing fees are none refundable.
7. Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (E.I.Z.) does not automatically warrant any
person to obtain a work permit to work in Zambia.
8. The Engineering Institution of Zambia reserves the right to withdraw the membership of any individual
who goes against the code of conduct and ethics of the institution or should it be found that the
documents submitted at the time of application lacked authenticity.
9. Processing of applications takes ten working days for straight forward cases i.e. when the form is fully
completed and documents submitted are easily verifiable.
