I. Course: COMP 1 Credit: 3 Units

II. Course Title: COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS Pre-requisite: None

III. Course Description: The course will explore the fundamentals of computer, both hardware and software. Topics will include and limit on application of
computers, history of computers, representation of data, computer systems organization, database systems, operating systems, information systems,
current trends and issues., windows word, excel and power point application. The software life cycle, states of the lifecycle and this topic includes
problem solving, algorithm and design algorithm.

IV. Objectives:

A. Institutional Objectives:

JMC aims to provide a complete learning mechanism that molds the knowledge and skills on every students to cultivate and underlying principles
of living and character-building in order to establish culture of excellence in all facet of societal condition – spiritually, socially, economically and
academically – based on the standards set suitable to the needs of every individual. Enhanced love of God and develop positive/alternative ethical values
among fellowmen.

b.1.1 To know the basic computing terminologies and concepts.


b.1.2 To know the different parts of the typical computer & differentiate the components of the computer systems in terms of function.
b.1.3 To understand how the data is represented into the computer.

b.2. Affective (Moral)

b.2.1 To foresee the effects of computer on education, and on the different members of the society at large.
b.2.2 To know the theoretical and practical aspects of the design and use of computers.
b.2.3 To learn and understand the past, present & future of computer and computer science.
b.3. Psychomotor (Skills)

b.3.1 To perform different file manipulation techniques in carrying out the windows commands and functions.
b.3.2 To understand and implement the use of Microsoft application for their future careers.
b.3.3 To run software programs and switch between different applications.
