    METHOD STATEMENT

    FOR DEVICE INSTALLATION OF DUCT SMOKE DETECTOR


    I. PURPOSE
    1. The purpose of this Method Statement is to detail the procedures for the installation of
    Duct Smoke Detector.

    II. SCOPE
    1. The work under this Section includes providing all labors, materials, tools and equipment
    necessary for furnishing and installing Duct Smoke Detector as shown in the drawings
    and standard details.

    III. REFERENCES
    1. Latest approved “For Construction Drawing” and/or approved shop drawing mounting
    details.

    IV. PROCEDURE
    1. Determine an appropriate mounting position for the Duct Smoke Detector as per
    Approved Shop Drawing Details.
    2. Insert gaskets to the intake sampling tube and exhaust tube to avoid any air leak then
    insert the sampling and exhaust tube to the drilled hole in the duct as per Approved
    Shop Drawing Details. Make sure that the sampling tube holes must be facing into the
    air flow.
    3. Secure the Duct Smoke Detector enclosure to the duct using mounting screws then
    insert the filters to the sampling and exhaust tubes.
    4. Attach a flexible metallic conduit with FMC connector to the duct smoke detector base
    using locknut and bushing. Terminate the field wiring to the terminals based on the
    wiring configuration of the device.
    5. Attach the Duct Smoke Detector cover to the base of the device. Secure he cover by
    tightening the mounting screws.
