Time

I.OBJECTIVES

A.Content Standards The Learners demonstrate an understanding of…

the structure and function of plant parts and organelles involved in photosynthesis
S9LT-lg-j-31
B.Performance Standards Differentiate basic features and importance of photosynthesis
S9LT-lg-j-31

C.Learning Competencies Objectives The Learners should be able to…

1. Identify the structures involved in photosynthesis.

2. Describe the process of food making done by plants.
3. Appreciate the importance of photosynthesis for plants and for
heterotrophs

II.CONTENT PHOTOSYNTHESIS – THE FOOD MAKING PROCESS OF PLANTS

III.LEARNING RESOURCES

A.References

1.Teacher’s Guide pages PP (Teaching Guide Draft Soft copy only) Unit 1 module 4

IV.PROCEDURES
A. Elicit - Reviewing previous lesson or Recall:
presenting the new lesson- 1. Ask the students what the illustration is.
2. Let the students pair the nitrogenous bases with its base pair.

A T G C T A

B. ENGAGE -Establishing a purpose for the Task 1: Four Pics One Word
lesson Instruction: Let the student identify the word being described by the
pictures. These pictures identify the topic to be discussed.
C. ENGAGE -Presenting examples/instances
of the new lesson
Objective 1 : MAPEH (MUSIC) INTEGRATION
Objective 2: Promoting Literacy skills among learners

Task 2: Show the student about a music video about photosynthesis

Question:
1. What is the song all about?
2. Based on the song, what is the process of photosynthesis?

D. EXPLORE -Discussing new concepts and Objective 2: Promoting Literacy and Numeracy skills among
practicing new skills #1 learners
Objective 4: Engaging Learners,Hands-on Activities, Discovery and
Meaningful Explanation
Objective 5: Providing Motivation and Ensuring Learner’s Active
Participation
Objective 6: Differentiated Activities

Activity Time!!!:
Procedure:
o The teacher will group the students into five.
o Discuss the rubric for the students’ presentation of learned concepts
(optional)

Guide Question: What are the structures involved in the food

making process in plants?

o The teacher will prepare five activities to be answered by each group. Discuss
the activity sheet and procedure to each group.

Tasks per group

GROUP 1: FILL ME UP! : Overview of Photosynthesis

The students will fill in the blanks to come up with the Process of Photosynthesis

GROUP 2: CHEER ME UP! : The Process of Photosynthesis

The students will create a their own chant/song that explains how plants make
their own food.
GROUP 3: LABEL ME!: Identify the different parts and function (internal
structure) of leaf
The students will identify the different parts of the site of photosynthesis: The
Leaf.

GROUP 4: DECODE ME! : Functions of the parts of leaf

The students will give the functions of the different parts of the leaf by decoding
the terms that is being described.

GROUP 5: ILLUSTRATE ME!: Importance of Photosynthesis to plants and

to us.
The students will draw or illustrate the importance of Photosynthesis to plants
and to heterotrophs.

F. EXPLAIN -Developing mastery Objective 3: Use of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative
thinking, as well as other higher-order thinking skills

Each group to make a summary of the different concepts they will learn from each
activity which will be presented to the class.
Each group aims to answer the following questions:
1. What is photosynthesis?
2. How do plants make their own food?
3. Why do you think it is important to know different parts of a leaf?
4. Why is photosynthesis essential to all living things?
5. How can you help the preservation of plants in our environment?

G. ELABORATE -Finding practical Let the students answer the question:

applications of concepts and skills in daily
living 1. Why do you think the process of photosynthesis is important? (Let
H. ELABORATE Making generalizations and the students put their answers on the tree)
abstractions about the lesson
It is the number one source of oxygen in the atmosphere.

 It contributes to the carbon cycle between the earth, the oceans, plants and
animals.
 It contributes to the symbiotic relationship between plants, humans and animals.
 It directly or indirectly affects most life on Earth.
 It serves as the primary energy process for most trees and plants.

Exit Ticket

(Optional, If time permits)

Let the students write the things they have learned from the topic.

I. EVALUATE -Evaluating learning Objective 9: summative assessment strategies consistent with curriculum
requirements
