While PMC-USA is not engaged in trade in the Philippines, it receives dividend income from PMOPhil. The court ruled that while the two companies have separate legal personalities, PMC-USA is still subject to Philippine taxes on the dividend income received from PMOPhil due to its status as the sole shareholder.
