3.2.1 FX-1005e
The following items should be present in the box:
When installing using the optional bracket, the FX Series device should be mounted with
the front side facing out, as shown in Figure 2-1. All connectors, ports and LEDs are
located on the cable side. For redundant setups, the devices (primary and secondary)
should be placed one on top of the other.
Follow the steps below to complete the FX Series device installation. If you are not
rackmounting the FX-1005e, simply skip to Step 7.
1. Secure the rack to ensure it does not move during the installation.
2. Prepare the L-shaped mounting brackets.
NOTE: Brackets can be installed on either the cable side or the button side.
3. Locate the two screw holes on each side of the device.
NOTE: The screws to attach the bracket to the FX-1005e are included in the
mounting kit; however, the screws to attach the brackets to the rack are not.
4. Attach the L-shaped brackets to the screw holes on each side of the device, as shown
in Figure 3-1 below. Tighten the screws to secure the brackets in place.
• Attach the ears of the L-shaped mounting brackets to the rack, then apply the
long-threaded screws.
The FX Series device should be mounted with the front side facing out, as shown in Figure
2-3. All connectors, ports and LEDs are located on the cable side. For redundant setups,
the devices (primary and secondary) should be placed one on top of the other.
1. Secure the rack to ensure it does not move during the installation.
2. Prepare the device by installing one of the following:
• Mounting brackets, as described in “Rackmounting Using Brackets” on page 3-6.
• Side rails, as described in “Rackmounting Using Side Rails” on page 3-8.
NOTE: Devices with dual power supply should use the side rails.
3. Insert and secure the device in the rack.
4. Connect the necessary cables, as described in “Cabling an FX Device” on page 3-17.
5. Power up the device safely, as described in “Powering the FX Series Chassis” on

NOTE: The device is easier to mount if support screws are installed just below the
bottom of the device's final resting position in the rack. Insert them only
halfway so that the mounting brackets have a place to rest during the
installation process.
Using the holes located toward the back of the bracket allows the device to be seated
deeper inside the rack. The deeper position is practical when the rack has a door,
since the additional space created can accommodate the device’s cabling in the front.

Marking
The FX-1005e, FX-1010c, FX-4010c, FX-5020c and FX-6020c bear the following CE
mark.
The equipment that you have purchased required the extraction and use of natural
resources for its production. It may contain hazardous substances that could impact health
and the environment.
In order to avoid the dissemination of those substances in our environment and to diminish
the pressure on the natural resources, we encourage you to use the appropriate take-back
systems. Those systems will reuse or recycle most of the materials of your end-of-life
equipment in a sound way.
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol invites you not to dispose of WEEE as unsorted
municipal waste and to collect such WEEE separately.
