    Ideal Food Cost Instructions

    STEP ONE: Enter the item name into column A

    STEP ONE: Enter the total menu item cost into column B

    STEP ONE: Enter the menu sales price into column C

    STEP ONE: Enter the number of menu items sold in column E

    All other columns will be automatically generated

    Interpreting the Results


    Column D Indicates the menu item contribution margin

    Column F Indicates total revenue generated for a particular item

    Column G Indicates total expense for a particular menu item

    Column H Indicates contribution profit for a particular item (F-G)

    Column I Indicates the ideal food cost for a particular item

    The big red and grey box at the top of the calculator will
    display your ideal food cost, based on the information you
    entered.
