David - My Story
● Professional email spammer → Salesforce administrator
● Salesforce administrator → Salesforce developer
● Salesforce developer → Technical architect & manager
● Google:
○ Rejected 10+ times
○ LinkedIn recruiter spamming
○ Email Salesforce managers directly
How to get Salesforce job interviews
● Getting an interview and passing an interview are different!
● All Salesforce resumes look the same, except for:
○ # of certifications, # of users / org size, extracurricular activities
● You can have five certifications by the end of 2016
● Volunteer:
○ Non-profits orgs
○ Within your company!
○ Salesforce Success Community forums
○ Start a user group: admin/dev, Girly Geeks, Salesforce Saturdays
○ Start a website!
● Update your LinkedIn profile!
How to pass a Salesforce interview
● The goal is NOT to get the questions right - your goal is to show you’re competent!
● It’s OK to give a wrong solution – explain why it’s wrong. If you’re torn between
multiple solutions, present them all with their pros and cons

● Stay up to date with your Salesforce release notes

● Do not assume the interviewer has read your resume
● Do your research using Glassdoor, LinkedIn, and Google
Salary Negotiations
● You have more leverage than you think!
● Negotiations are mostly between you an HR – not your team
● It’s not selfish to ask for a higher salary – it’s smart
● If you want a salary of XX, ask for XX + 10%
● A recruiter will do a better job than you. (Think NBA players and their agents)
● Employers never really need you to start immediately
