What we believe is the heart of the issues
on hand is:
DAVID PEO
➢Over-Confident • Dis-coordination
amongst levels of
➢Lack of research
management
➢Confused • Unprofessional
➢Over-Excitement • Audited their
➢Pushover quota
• Concern towards
their
management

What role should ethics play in writing of a proposal such as
this? Did the peo do the ethical thing for david? What would you
have done if you were part of management at the peo?
> Ethics play a major role in building trustworthy relationship with their
clients, therefore one must keep ethical values in their hearts while
writing a proposal like this.
> NO! PEO was unethical and could have provided a better price to David.
> Would have reviewed the quota properly before handing it to the client.
> Would have reduced the final quota at par with the market price.
> Confront the salesperson for his unprofessional work.
11
From a deontological(duty) perspective and a
teleological(consequences) perspective, how would you
describe the ethics of the peo?
> From a duty perspective, PEO did a top notch job towards their
salesperson but failed to do the same for David.
> They lost their pride of supporting minority businesses, that built
their sterling reputation.
> First, PEO would lose clients and reputation in the market due to
its dishonest proposal.
> Secondly, the consequences would also affect the salesperson who
drew up the proposal.
12
Based on what the peo did for david, how would you evaluate
the peo on the ethical principles of respect, service, justice,
honesty and community?
> BASED ON WHAT THE PEO DID FOR DAVID WAS WRONG ON ALL
ETHICAL GROUNDS OF RESPECT, SERVICE, JUSTICE, HONESTY
AND COMMUNITY. THE PRICE WAS REMARKABLY HIGH WHICH
DAVID FOR ANY REASON, DID NOT NOTICE, BUT IT WAS THEIR
DUTY TO BE ETHICAL TOWARDS THE SOCIETY.
13
How would you assess the ethics of the peo if you were david? If
you were the peo management? If you were the salesperson? If you
were a member of the printing community?
• IF I WERE DAVID: AFTER REALISATION THAT THE PRICE WAS HIGH I WOULD’VE
LOOKED FOR BETTER OPTIONS IN THE MARKET AND AS A SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY, ADVISE OTHERS NOT TO HIRE THAT PEO. THEY LACK MORALS.
14
How would you assess the ethics of the peo if you were david?
If you were the peo management? If you were the salesperson?
If you were a member of the printing community?
