Adan Elmi Abdullahi (PhD)

Dr. Abdullahi obtained a PhD in Plant Sciences from the University of Western Ontario
(CANADA) in 1993, and MSc. in Agronomy from the University of Illinois, Urbana-
Champaign (USA) in 1989. He has more than 30 years experience working in agriculture,
research, and public institutions in southern Africa and Somalia. Dr. Abdullahi has
extensive experience in research including crop science and ecology. He has worked as
Principal Agricultural Researcher/Senior Agricultural Researcher in the Department of
Agricultural Research in Botswana for 11 years, including 3 years during which he
coordinated the Botswana Sorghum Improvement Programme. He worked as a Senior
Research Fellow at the University of Swaziland’s Institute for Research on Indigenous
Medicinal and Food Plants. During the last six years he has successfully implemented
various consultancy assignments on environment, agriculture, rural development and
livelihoods in Somaliland. His abilities in implementing research work and delivering
results are well recognized in southern Africa and Somalia. Dr. Abdullahi is also a good
trainer, lecturer, and presenter.
