DATE PROBLEM
May 2010 The Shuweihat Power and Desalination plant had a large in-
ventory of equipment in storage in need of corrosion protec-
CUSTOMER tion. The warehouse is exposed to the harsh sea environment
SCIPCO and the equipment was rusting. The customer required protec-
Shuweihat CMS International Power Company tion for their expensive equipment, the main items being tur-
bine rotor shafts, spare boiler tubes, expansion joints, motors,
DISTRIBUTOR valves, bearings, and electrical equipment.

APPLICATION
LOCATION First, large metal expansion joints were cleaned using VpCI®-
Abu Dhabi (Ruwais) - UAE 422. VpCI®-337 was then sprayed on the surfaces and VpCI®-
132 foam pads were placed down before the joints were
PRODUCTS wrapped using Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink Film. Valves, actuators,
MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film shafts, and bearings were first cleaned using VpCI®-414. Post
Electricorr® VpCI®-238 cleaning, the equipment was sprayed with VpCI®-337 and
VpCI®-105 Emitter wrapped in Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink Film. Electrical panels and
VpCI®-126 Blue other electronic items were cleaned and protected with Elec-
VpCI®-309 tricorr® VpCI®-238, after which VpCI®-105 Emitters were in-
VpCI®-337 stalled in them, and complete assemblies were wrapped with
VpCI®-414 VpCI®-126 Blue. Boiler tubes were fogged with VpCI®-309, the
VpCI®-422 tube ends were sealed with Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink Film and
placed in boxes that were also shrink wrapped with Milcorr®
VpCI® Shrink Film. Prior to preservation, the customer had
to replace tarpaulin covers every six months due to damage
caused by extreme heat and humidity. The covers have not
needed to be replaced in three years since being covered with
Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink Film.
