FAQ: Why do I get a Module Error with Analog

Input?
Answer

A Module Error is identified by 6-Red CPU (or I/O Scanner) Flashes and confirmed by going into
Monitor Mode , then: Monitor  Rack Diagnostics.

With suspect Module identified, click on Controller ab and placing mouse on Block will change
to a hyperlink and clicking on this will take you to its location on the Function Block Diagram
(FBD)

Now at AI block can mouse-click for status (below left)
then Alternate click -> Monitor for details (below – right)

By default a Bad Channel can trigger a Bad Module and on some function blocks, can be
Disabled. On each suspect I/O Block double-click to open its Properties window.
Below is an Analog Input example showing this feature Checked

By default, if an Analog Input (AI) is added into a Function Block Diagram (FBD), it is expected
to operate continuously. When this is not desired, we have support capabilities to logically turn
an AI block Off via its Disable (DIS) pin (example below)

There are other cases where an input may be used for monitoring, such as Load Temperature
Sensors. These may not be connected continuously and developer does not want additional
logic like above. In these cases, you can eliminate Module Errors by double-clicking on the AI
function block to open its Properties, then Uncheck Bad Channel Detection (picture below).
