Senior School Annual Day 2016

Ummeed-e-Bahaar…
…Seasons of life

Nature has hidden lessons for mankind in the course of its silent saga. Each season brings with
it its own emotion: spring is full of hope; it’s the time of the year when Nature resumes her
loveliness. It is the season of flowers, sweet sunshine, joy and excitement.

Summer signifies freedom and exuberance. Being the prime time of the year, it’s a time for
adventure and action in the company of friends. Steeped in sunshine, it’s a season to break
free and have fun.

Monsoon follows summer. Though it brings cheer to the parched land, it connotes sorrow and
despair due to inevitable events or challenges faced by man.

Autumn reminds us of the impermanence of everything. We have experienced the budding

of life in spring and the flowerings and profusions of summer. Now the leaves fall and bare
branches remind us of the fleeting nature of all things. It’s a prologue to the harsh winter; it
is a message for man to brace himself for the difficulties in life.

With the onset of winter, life becomes still and silent. Activity gives way to dormancy. But life
doesn’t pause here. There is a phenomenal renewal when earth reawakens from her slumber
and explodes with new life. It’s a lesson for man to embark on new journeys and start new
projects on fresh ideas.

Thus continues the cycle of life with new hopes and aspirations.
Hope is a positive emotion about the future. People who are hopeful have goals that they
want to achieve and they develop plans in order to meet their goals. Developing strong
vision and mission statements can help stakeholders in the school achieve a common goal.
When the school was set up in the year 2000, it was the concretization of a vision and it has
helped us reach where we are today.

Our evolution from one of the community schools to the highest rated school in Doha in
terms of academics, extracurricular activities and infrastructure is suggestive of the hope
we had reposed in its inception. Our path to success was not a bed of roses. Yet we didn’t
lose hope.

I congratulate Ms. Asna Nafees and her committed team for choosing relevant themes
every year for the Annual Day. It is a much awaited event enjoyed by all in the community.

Regards

Mr. Hasan Chougule

President
With great hope, we at DPS-MIS decided to explore the true potential technology offers for
teaching and learning. Properly used, technology will help students acquire the skills they
need to survive in a complex, highly technological knowledge-based economy. We feel
contented that the ICT powered education has become fun and meaningful in classrooms.
There were challenges but our determination to pursue our goal was successful with better
learning outcomes.

I congratulate Ms. Asna Nafees and her dedicated team for depicting an appropriate
message of hope which will motivate students to hold on to hope when everything appears
gloomy. The theme of this year’s Annual Day conveys that winter is tough to endure but
spring follows. Never let go of hope in oneself even in the most difficult situation- dream,
take action and live the life you wish.

Regards

Mr. Yasir Nainar

Vice President and Director IT
They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: “someone to love,
something to do, and something to hope for.” Each child when enrolled in the school, is
entrusted in the caring hands of the teacher. A large part of their formative years is spent in
school. They are molded into good human beings and it is gratifying to see them grow into
responsible adults facing the challenges offered by life. They are taught to become winners
and also accept defeat with grace. They realize that no one can bask in the summer’s balm
without having to endure winter’s bite.

The theme of this year’s Annual Day points out that if we had no winter, the spring would
not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste adversity, prosperity would not be so
welcome.

I congratulate my devoted team for their efforts in making this Annual Day a success.
I thank all members of the Management for lending incessant support and guidance in
making our dream a reality.

I thank all my support staff for helping in the smooth conduct of the function.

When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all
is dire and bleak, there is always hope.

Regards

Ms. Asna Nafees

Principal
“A dream does not become a reality without determination and hard work”.
Annual Day in DPS-Modern Indian School is the most important event in the school calendar. It is a day to
celebrate the past achievements and look forward to the journey ahead. This year’s cultural program is
based on the theme “Seasons of Life”.
DPS-Modern Indian School wishes to bring forth how seasons help us to grow and develop psychologically
on different levels of awareness and how richer experiences enable us to overcome the obstacles and
challenges that life throws our way.
I wish all the best to participants and teachers.
All the very best!!

Regards

MS. DEEPA CHAKRABORTY

ACTIVITY COORDINATOR (VI – XII)

The Senior Wing Annual Day is a platform, for both teachers and students alike, to showcase their
talents on stage before an august audience. This year, too, we have tried to put forward a theme
Ummeed-e-Bahaar - Seasons of Life. It portrays the emotions that man undergoes in his life's journey,
which does have a close resemblance with the fleeting nature of seasons. The children and teachers
have worked hand in hand to make this event a success. I wish each and everyone involved in this
event the very best as every hand or mind that was behind this event is very precious to us now and
in all the years to come.

MS. RACHEL ALWYN

ACADEMIC COORDINATOR, CLASSES VI – VIII

"Achievements bring happiness in our life so we always have to strive for the best. I wish the very best
to the DPS-MIS family and I'm truly proud of the School to which I belong."

MS. VIJAYASREE
ACADEMIC COORDINATOR, CLASSES IX & X

Annual Day! The most awaited day for Children, Teachers and Parents!
Every year I wait for December to see the children performing on the stage with beautiful dresses and
wonderful themes of life. Our annual day is based on some themes, which I really appreciate. I feel,
there is something to carry home for everyone...it satisfies all sorts of people, some truths that need to
be conveyed. I wish all the best to my students. Let them bring the best in them and make this day a
wonderful, unforgettable day for everyone.

MS. MRUNAL BHAVE

HOUSE WARDEN, TULIP HOUSE

Annual day is the most awaited event of the year. It is a platform where children perform their various

Every year my association with the cultural extravaganza, called the Annual Day of DPS-MIS, has
helped me mature individually and professionally. It’s an exciting experience wherein we harness new
talents and shape them to perform to the best of their abilities. I thoroughly enjoy the enthusiasm and
the team spirit that engulfs the whole school. It is of course a privilege to be a part of Annual day
which is the confluence of art and culture.

happiness and excitement for being part of this incredible occasion and also extend my best wishes

MR. JUSTIN VARGHESE JOSEPH

HOUSE WARDEN, LILY HOUSE

As an educator, I am most pleased to carry out the great mission of our school– nurturing our young
learners and bringing out the best in them. That’s what makes me all exultant to be part of our school
team preparing our children for the Annual Day celebration. Our Annual Day not only caters to the
various needs of our students, so that students with different aptitudes, abilities and interests will be
able to exploit their potentials to the full, but also equips our young minds with the necessary
knowledge and skills so that they can meet the demands of a fast changing world and become
lifelong learners. The theme of our Annual Day this year Ummeed-e-Bahaar, Seasons of Life, throws
light on the absolute realities of our life. More than just entertaining the audience by reveling on the
seasons of nature, it teaches our children that, in life, they should always sustain an optimistic vantage
point, dwelling on which they can endure all sorts of sour and bitter experiences of life. Therefore, our
Annual Day this year, like in the past, will throw colors to the spirit of our children, rejuvenating them
and teaching them the ultimate lessons of life. I just relish this pleasure of closely witnessing their joyful
learning.

MS.KAKOLI BISWAS
HOUSE WARDEN – (LOTUS HOUSE)

The upcoming Annual Day is going to be a showcase of talent, a day for the manifestation of our true
emotions and feelings to be brought to life through music and dance. When I see young minds
preparing for the Annual Day, I see creative energy at its prime. It’s been a joyful experience to be a
part of this grand celebration.
MS.NEENA SAJI PHILIPOSE
HOUSE WARDEN (TULIP)

This is my second time being a house warden and like every time the journey has been filled with wild
exuberance and surprises. Often as you try to inspire your students, it ends up with them inspiring you!
This year has been no different. The privilege of working around students who worked and
campaigned tirelessly with zest and intelligence and a group of well-organized, diligent co-teachers
has been a great learning experience and worth living again.
My message for all the students out there is simple. Life is multi-dimensional, go out there and explore,
don’t be afraid to try something new or of failure because success is how high you bounce back after
hitting the bottom.
Cheers to a great event!!!

The parents’ hand over their kids as fresh buds to the school, with an expectation that their wards will
learn various subjects to find a place in the society as they grow up. We, the teachers at DPS MIS, take
each bud with utmost care and devote all our efforts to make it bloom in all the hues of life -- be it
learning of conventional subjects like Language, Science and History; or developing the potent
cultural resources a student comes with; or nurturing the sporting and other extracurricular skills the
student is embedded with.
Annual Day is the time to showcase the cultural spectrum of the blooming petals of the flowers-- the
senior students, who once joined this institution as infants-- as the proverbial buds.
We can assure you, each of the participating students came with talents galore, our job was only to
work as facilitators. The result -- you will witness today and will surely appreciate.
Once again, reiterating our faith in a holistic approach towards developing a child to become a truly
responsible matured citizen.

Every year, all near and dear to DPS – MIS family look forward to the Annual day Program. Amidst
beams of laughter, tears of sorrow, hard work, appreciation and criticisms, the final countdown has
begun for the most awaited moment. It is a complete team work where each and every
department is wholeheartedly involved for the success of the program.

My IT team was a little tensed about making the Audio Visual for the annual day because Principal
Ma’am had told us that the entire AV should be awesome and there would be surprises. But we didn’t
know what it was. When we came for the final rehearsal the entire IT team and the school got surprised
with the LED Video wall facility which Principal Ma’am had provided to us for the AV. Our tension
vanished into thin air and was replaced by excitement.

We thank Principal Ma’am and the Management for LED video wall and wishes the team all the very
best.
