III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. A Text A Day
a. Reading of the text
When I get ready for bed, the first thing I do is brush my teeth.
Then, I go to the bathroom. Next, I put on my pajamas. After that, I
read books with my dad. Then, I lie down in my bed to go to sleep.

b. Comprehension Questions:
 At what time of the day does the speaker in the story do these things?
 What is the first thing he does?
 What does he wear at night?
 What does he do with his dad?
 Arrange the following events according to how they happened in the
story.
________ read books with dad
________ put on pajamas
________ brush teeth
________ lie down in bed
________ go to the bathroom

2. Drill
 Let students read the following words with the -ough sound.
Cough tough rough dough bough
 Give a Spelling test afterwards.

3. Review
 Present sentences that show cause-effect relationship.
 Let students encircle the word used to connect the cause from its effect
in each sentence.

 Ask them when to use each connector.
a. My brother tripped so he has a wounded knee.
b. Carla will go to the mall because she needs to buy a new dress.
c. I woke up late so I was late for school.
d. Kayli has toothache because she ate plenty of candies.
e. My hands are dirty so I washed them.
 Review the class on cause-effect relationship and the use of connectors.

B. Developmental Activities
1. ACTIVITY
a. Present sets of examples to show when capitalization is done. Show them the
words by sets.
b. Say: Let us read the words.

2. ANALYSIS
 What are written in the first box? How about in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th?
 How are they written?
 When do we capitalize?
 Do we need to capitalize every beginning letter of all words in a sentence?
 What other words need to be capitalized?

3. ABSTRACTION
Capitalize
 the first letter of first word of every sentence.
 the first-person singular pronoun, I.
 the important words in a title.
 proper nouns (specific)
 names of persons
 names of places
 names of things
 days of the week, months and holidays

4. APPLICATION
GROUP ACTIVITY
a. Form 4 groups.
b. Give each group a worksheet on capitalization.
c. A representative from each group will present their output in front of the class.
