(ACTIVE GAME)

Origin
The Tinguian children first played this game as to give
entertainment for whatever they can find in their place that was abundant. From bagol,
the game was originally played using coconut shells or stones. Today, the game is
played with the use of any kind of flip-flops or slippers.
What is Bagol-Bagol?
It is a game where two opposing players, usually girls, take turns
attempting to hit the other player's flip-flop. As the game progresses, hitting the
opponent's slipper is made difficult by requiring the player to perform tasks including
carrying the slipper towards the opponent's slipper using only one leg, balancing the
slipper in the head while walking towards the target slipper or doing a backbend to hit
the target slipper.
Materials:
Flip-Flops or Slippers

How to play the game:

The main goal of this game is to deliver/carry your slipper/flip-flops towards the
opponent’s slipper using different methods. Each level of method gets more
complicated and all members of the group must complete the level in order to proceed
to the next level. Otherwise, it’s the opponent’s turn to deliver their slippers to the other
side.
Rules and Guidelines:

1. Each team must have 8 players. Four girls and four boys.
2. Each member of a group must find a partner from the opponent’s side to whom
they will deliver their slippers in each turn of their team.
3. Each member must have one pair of slipper. One slipper will serve as their base
and the other will serve as the one to be delivered.
4. All members of the group must deliver their slippers in compliance to the
method in each level. They will deliver the slipper in the same method to the
base of their opponent and back to theirs.
5. If the player fails to deliver the slipper and back, he/she is unable to continue.
6. Each team will take turns in accomplishing a certain level. If all members of the
team got to do the task whether they succeeded or failed, they will advance to
the next level.

Scoring:
1. If a player delivers the slipper to the opponent, he.she will get 1 point. Another
point will be given if he/she delivers the slipper back to his/her base.
2. If a player fails to deliver the slipper, no points will be rewarded.
3. All points from each member will be added and the team with the most points
wins
4. In case of a tie, a deciding game will be played.
5. The scores in the deciding game will be added to the total score. The team with
the most scores wins.
Levels of Method:
Level 1: Each player must place the slipper on one foot (above) and using their free
foot to skip until they reach the opponent’s slipper.
Level 2: Each player must place their slipper between their knees. From their base,
they will jump to a distance that they desire and after jumping they will drop the slipper.
The slipper must not hit the opponent’s base yet. After jumping they will get their
slippers to the place where it landed, placed between their knees and jump again, this
time they will try to hit their opponent’s base. If the slipper goes too near to the
opponent’s base, the player must use her knees to tap the opponent’s base using
his/her slippers three times.
Level 3: The players must place their slippers on the top of their heads and skip with
one foot until they arrive near the opponent’s base and try to hit/drop it on the
opponent’s base. They will do the same upon returning to their base.
Level 4: The player must lift one of his/her legs and place the slipper on that leg.
He/she must skip with the free foot and try to deliver it to the opponent’s base and
back to his/her own. If the slipper drops, the player must not continue.
Level 5: The players will throw their slippers to a certain distance not hitting the
opponent’s base yet. The players then will pick their slippers to where it landed and
do a backward stretch (tiad) and try to hit the opponent’s base. However, if the slipper
goes too near to the opponent’s base at the first throw, the player must do a backward
stretch (tiad) and try to tap the opponent’s slipper three times without their free arm/
hand supporting their back. They will do the same upon returning to their home base.
Tie Breaker: Using the player’s slipper, he/she will tap his/her base three times and
proceed to the opponent's base and tap it three times. However, if the player tapped
the opponent’s three times, the opponent player may chase the player and tap/slap
him/her before the player touches his/her home base. If the player is tapped/slapped
he/she must not continue.
