DAMAGE IN TRANSPORTATION
All packages should be closely examined at time of delivery. If damage is apparent write “Damage In
Shipment” on ALL copies of the freight or express bill BEFORE delivery is accepted or “signed for” by
a GE representative or hospital receiving agent. Whether noted or concealed, damage MUST be
reported to the carrier immediately upon discovery, or in any event, within 14 days after receipt, and the
contents and containers held for inspection by the carrier. A transportation company will not pay a claim
for damage if an inspection is not requested within this 14 day period.

Call Traffic and Transportation, Milwaukee, WI (262) 827-3468 or 8*285-3468 immediately after
damage is found. At this time be ready to supply name of carrier, delivery date, consignee name, freight
or express bill number, item damaged and extent of damage.

Complete instructions regarding claim procedure are found in Section “S” of the Policy And Procedures
Bulletins.

CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR STATEMENT


All electrical Installations that are preliminary to positioning of the equipment at the site prepared for the
equipment shall be performed by licensed electrical contractors. Other connections between pieces of
electrical equipment, calibrations and testing shall be performed by qualified GE Medical Systems
personnel. In performing all electrical work on these products, GE will use its own specially trained field
engineers. All of GE’s electrical work on these products will comply with the requirements of the
applicable electrical codes.

The purchaser of GE equipment shall only utilize qualified personnel (i.e., GE’s field engineers,
personnel of third-party service companies with equivalent training, or licensed electricians) to perform
electrical servicing on the equipment.

If there are any omissions, errors or suggestions for improving this documentation, please contact the
GE Medical Systems Global Documentation Group with specific information listing the system type,
manual title, part number, revision number, page number and suggestion details. Mail the information

GE Medical Systems employees should use the iTrak System to report all documentation errors or

Section 1-7
Procedure
READ and UNDERSTAND these instructions thoroughly before proceeding with the installation.
Perform each step in sequence and check it off when completed. If a problem occurs after completion,
go back through the procedures and check for implementation errors before contacting your Ultrasound
Region Engineer.

CAUTION Possible operational damage. Failure to strictly follow ESD (Electric Discharge) precautions
during this upgrade may cause constant or intermittent operational abnormalities. Strictly
follow all precausions.

Check each stem as it is completed.

1-7-1 Functional Check-out


Perform functional checks to verify that the system is functioning properly. Refer to the Functional
Checks in Chapter 4, LOGIQ™ S6 Service Manual.

1.) Turn the system power OFF and unplug the unit.
2.) Remove the three screws, then gently remove the right side cover rearward.

1.) Loose the seven screws and remove the nest rear cover.
2.) Remove the four screws and nest front cable cover.
3.) Remove the five screws and loosen the three screws, then remove the nest cover.

4.) Write down the number to the four Tx cables as shown before removing the cables.
5.) Disconnect the four Tx cables from the BTRAP5AHV boards.

6.) Remove the EBUS3T board and EBUS3B board while taking care not to damage the pins.

7.) Install STCW Assy into slot 2 (second slot from the left).
When it is hard to remove the board, you can use the board extracting tools specially.(Part Number:
2315492)

8.) Install the BTXCW Assy on the BTRAPHV board below:
a.) Remove the two BTRAPHV Assy from slots 3 and 4.
b.) Place BTXCW on a static-free place as shown.

c.) Connect the BTXCW Assy onto the BTRAPHV Assy.


d.) Visually verify that it is connected to the BTRAPHV..

e.) Hold it using the four screws (N9306HR) firmly from the backside of the BTRAPHV board.

f.) Install the two BTRAPHV+BTXCW Assy into the slots 3 and 4
g.) Install the EBUS boards (EBUS3T and EBUS3B). Note that both EBUS for TOP and for
BOTTOM are not interchangable.

h.) Connect the Tx cables to BTRAPHV+BTXCW as shown.

i.) Connect the #3 and #4 Tx cables to the BTRAPHV connectors, so that the triangle mark of the
connector faces RIGHT. .

j.) Connect the #1 and #2 Tx cables to the Piggyback board (BTxCW) connector on the
BTRAPHV, so that the triangle mark of the connector faces left..

k.) Reinstall the NEST cover and NEST bracket in the reverse order of removal.
l.) Go to 1-7-3 Board Check on page 1 - 10.

Check if the STCW and BTRAPHV board has been installed properly using the FRU diagnostics. To
complete each test, it will take:

FRU test Time (to be tested) Tools required

STCW-FULL 3 minutes None

BTRAP-FULL 20 minutes Loopback Connector

1.) Power OFF the scanner and disconnect any probes from the scanner.
2.) Power ON the scanner.
Make sure that the LOGIQ7 software is activated. Press the Scan button to access the Scan Mode.
This Procedure is not necessary if the Scan Mode have been displayed already.
3.) Click on Utility > Service. It will take about ten (10) seconds for activating.

4.) Make sure that CAPS is OFF (should be dimmed) for password entry performed later.

5.) The Service Login window for Service Platform will be shown on the monitor display.

OFF ON

CAUTION If the Login window for Service Platform is not displayed on the monitor, the installation of the
Service Platform has failed. Reload the application software or Base System Software (OS) +
application software. Contact a Technical Support for details.

6.) Select GE Service at the “Select User Level” field.


7.) Enter the password for the Service Platform.
8.) Click on Okay.

9.) Verify that the following screen (Service Platform) is displayed on the monitor.

10.)Select Diagnostics > LOGIQS6 Diagnostics > FRU Test> STCW>FULL.


Perform STCW FULL test.

11.)Verify that all of the STCW tests complete with no error.

12.) :Select Diagnostics BTRAP > FULL.


Perform BTRAPHV FULL test and verify that all of the BTRAP tests complete with no error.

Click on x located at the upper right corner of the service platform screen to close the Service
Platform and return to the scan panel.

Power OFF the system, then ON. Press the CW key to verify that CW can be used with no error.

1-7-5 Final Procedure


1.) Unscrew four screws and remove the Right Side Cover.
2.) Attach the Option Label onto the Nest Cover.

3.) Re-install the Right Side Cover.


4.) Fill out the proper customer information on the Product Locator Card. Mail the installation card
“Product Locator” to the address corresponding to your region.
