Oral opioid medication and NSAIDs are given for mild to moderate
crisis, if those medicationsdont work then morphine may be
administered for breakthrough pain. A PCA pump maybe used if
these methods do not work. The child can be given items for
comfort such as a blanket or stuffed snimal.
