MIP-02 Guidelines on Associate Relations


ATTACHMENT C

RULES AND REGULATIONS

All businesses have certain rules, which associates must follow and Marriott International, Inc. is
no exception. If you neglect your duties or violate established rules, you may subject yourself to
disciplinary action.

Disciplinary action will be taken only when an investigation of the facts shows it is justified. If
you disagree with the action taken, you can access the Company's internal resolution dispute
procedure-the Guarantee of Fair Treatment (GFT).

An associate can be discharged for engaging in serious or egregious behavior or a policy


violation related to any of the following rules, which are serious breaches of responsibility to
the Company warranting immediate termination without any prior warnings or discipline. These
examples are not all inclusive and Marriott reserves the right to make changes to the rules at
any time without notice to associates.

1. Failure to carry out a reasonable job assignment or job request of your supervisor
or manager, after being warned failure to do so may result in termination.
2. Willful or careless behavior causing significant unsafe conditions, damage or
destruction to property of the Company, another associate, guest or vendor.
3. Harassing, discriminatory, or retaliatory conduct toward another associate, guest or
vendor in violation of the Policy Prohibiting Harassment and Unprofessional
Conduct.
4. Fraud, embezzlement, theft, attempted theft or other unauthorized taking of
property of the Company, another associate, guest or vendor.
5. Possession of a weapon on Company premises or while performing job duties of
premises.
6. Hitting, pushing, or otherwise striking another person or threatening physical harm
(either open or implied) to another person while on Company premises, while
performing job duties of premises or arising out of Company business.
7. Unauthorized possession, use or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal
substances, or sale, attempted sale or distribution of illegal substances while on
Company premises or while performing job duties.
8. Unauthorized review, disclosure, or distribution of confidential or proprietary
information in violation of the Company’s Information Protection Agreement.
9. Falsification or manipulation of Company records, including but not limited to
employment applications, timekeeping records, payroll, associate discount
programs, guest checks, financial records, guest satisfaction or associate

engagement surveys and/or other records.


10. Misuse of Company software, computer networks, inter/intra/extra nets, email, fax,
phone, letterhead, or other Company forms or documents.
11. Unauthorized entrance or access to offices, work areas, or guest rooms.
12. Conviction of a felony that is related to your job.
13. Serious misconduct.
