Ⅲ. Course Description and Objectives

The major goal of this course is to survey theoretical perspectives and empirical studies
pertaining to scientific study of the ways people think about, feel and behave in social
situations, designed to provide opportunities to increase awareness and sensitivity to the
power of situations on social behavior and human functioning. The focus of the course will
be on the assumptions made by each perspective, relevant methodological issues, and
theoretical and practical implications. Topics to be covered include social cognition,
judgment and decision making, self-presentation, attitudes and persuasion, social influence,
affiliation and relationships, prosocial behavior, aggression, intergroup relations, group
process, interpersonal and romantic relationships, and hot topics on social psychology.

Course Requirements

Attendance: Your presence is important. You are expected to attend all classes.
In-Class Participation: You will have opportunities to participate in 10 in-class
exercises. The main objective of these exercises is to develop a critical capability to
analyze and apply the course materials.
Exams: There will be 3 examinations. Make-up exams will not be given unless you
cannot take an exam at the scheduled time due to religious holidays or documented
emergency hospitalization.
