The art class syllabus outlines the purposes and curriculum for elementary art education. It aims to help students communicate through art, develop skills and craftsmanship with various techniques, appreciate art history and culture, and improve critical and creative thinking. Students are assessed on comprehension of concepts and craftsmanship rather than talent. The curriculum covers elements of art, principles of design, art purposes, subjects, styles, and processes. It introduces new elements each year and expects students to apply elements and principles with increasing intent and skill across grade levels. Grading includes evaluating class work, artwork, tests and quizzes based on rubrics.
