November 2019
In October 28, 2019 Monday when our group conduct a taste testing in the College of
Business Administration and Accountancy. We planned the taste testing on Sunday, October 27,
2019 and we have decided to conduct the production of our product at Jamiaca’s house on
Monday morning. While, Monday afternoon, we conduct the taste test to ten students and two
teachers. We prepare the Churros with two flavors, which is Graham Churros and Cinnamon
Churros with a partner of dark chocolate dip.
We ask Ma’am June Casimiro about how our product taste and what is her feedback
about the product. She commented that it taste good but she ask what is the twist of the product
and she also noticed the appearance and size of the churros because it was smaller than the usual
churros in the market. She also ask about the packaging of the product on how we will sell it and
also how much we will sell it to the customers. The combination of coffee, hot chocolate and tea
drink for a partner of churros has been taste too much sweet. She said, we should think another
option for a drink combination with churros.
To gain further and specific information about our product, we create a survey
questionnaire for the participants of our taste testing activity. In the questionnaire there is a five
variable which includes the taste, appearance, smell, price, mouth feel and the overall preference
of the product, with the scale score of 1-5 where 5 is the highest. Hence, we can determine what
variable is the important or most concerned of the customer based on the score they give , at the
end of the survey we can determined what aspect of our product should we improved more.
We choose the participants of the taste test through their availability. We approach the
two first year students we have spotted that sitting in the hallway. Next is the two accounting
student, two Econ students, two HRDM student and two Entrep student and ask them to taste our
product and we explained them what is our product and for what purpose of the activity. Then
we approach two faculty and also ask them to taste our product and make a feedback about it. All
in all we have 10 participants of the taste testing.
After the taste testing activity we analyze the data we have gather from them. According
to the survey questionnaire, the most concerned of the customer is the appearance who gain a
higher score variable, next is the mouth feel, then the taste, followed by the smell and lastly the
price of the product since we still don’t have a price for it.
On the suggestion section, a faculty ask what is the twist? “Yes, the taste is good, but
what is the twist? We’re looking for something new, something makes your product unique and
stand alone from all other lookalike product. You should, think what is the difference of my
product to other product? What makes it unique and what makes it especial? Try to make some
twist of your churros because, there’s already a lot of churros product out there and the goal is to
make your product especial and unique.” While the suggestions of the other students are as
follows; “The product is good, the taste and the smell of it’s flavor. However, the appearance of
the product is quite not good though. And the size, it’s too small, though they explained that it’s
just for the taste test. All in all, it’s good.” “The churros is taste good, yes but the appearance is
not good though. Just improved the appearance of the product.” “The product is good when it
comes to the taste, the flavor is there, I can also smell it, it’s just that the mouth feel effect its just
like I’m eating a normal churros. I’m expecting to have a something different when I eat it. But it
don’t have. And the appearance too small. That’s all.” “It’s good, the taste and the smell is
present, however the appearance is not good.” “It’s delicious, with its dip and I would like to try
it with coffee.” “The product is taste good, yes, the smell, I like the cinnamon flavor the
fragrance is very good and sweet, though I also like the graham because its smells good too but I
like the cinnamon more. The however, the appearance of the product is not looks good. I suggest
to improved the appearance of the product.”
In the summary, the concerned of the participants of the taste testing activity to our
product, is the appearance, size and the twist. Because of this we think of how can we make our
product differ and especial from all other churros product out there? We make some research of
how can we put some twist in the churros and we have come up to the idea of combination. We
have decided to develop a instead of just a plain churros, we will make it a pan cake churros. Off
course, a lot of people loves pan cake, and we want to have an collaboration of the churros and
the pan cake. And we will improved the appearance of our product and it’s size.
We also come up in changes of the form of our franchise business instead of café we
have decided to just make it a kiosk. This we will offer the pancake churos and some beverages,
we’re also planning to have some smoothie, frappe and milktea aside from the partners drinks of
the pan cake churros.
