HIGH SPIRITS
CELEBRATES 10 YEARS!!
High Spirits was founded in 1998 and is the longest running musi-
cal and drama club for children in Youghal and the surrounding
areas. The children come to weekly classes throughout the school
year - September to June - and perform in their annual show and
other events that may take place during the term. The classes com-
pile of acting, dancing and singing through performance and
games. Children’s own talents are encouraged and nurtured and
confidence grows through performing in front of classmates and
then progresses to performing in the annual show held in the
Youghal Community Centre with an audience capacity of over
200. The children find that performing in the show is exhilarating
and is the highlight of the year for them. Every child in High
Spirits is given the chance to perform on stage, though it must be

stressed that if a child is shy and would not prefer to, no pressure
is put on them to do so. Though the leaders generally find that as
show time draws closer, the excitement takes over and the nerves
are forgotten and they choose to perform and are delighted when
they do. Their previous productions include: Christmas
Extravaganza, A Century to Remember, Snow White, That’s
Entertainment 2002, Sleeping Beauty, Star Struck, Thursday’s
Child, Babes in the Woods and Once upon a Christmas. High
Spirits also takes pride in winning the best youth group in the St
Patricks day Parade for 8 out of the last 10 years. For the teenage
group this year they are getting a chance to explore their creative
side by writing and directing their own mini productions during
class time which they are aiming to perform before the end of this
term.
If your child is interested in joining please call to the Youghal Leaders Amanda Sylvester, Sinead Lee and Eleanor O Brien

How much we miss him can never be told,
God saw the road was long, He shared our troubles and helped us along,
The hill was hard to climb, If we follow his footsteps we will never go wrong.
We miss you from your fireside chair,
He gentle closed your loving eyes, Your loving smile and gentile air
And whispered peace be thine, Your vacant place no one can fill,
We shall meet again in a better place, We miss you dad and always will,
He is a dad so very rare,
Where farewell is never spoken, Content in his house and always there,
We shall clasp each other by the hand, On earth he toiled, in heaven he rests,
And that clasp shall not be broken, God bless you Dad, you are simply the best.
