sbo Spikey bobble stitch I learned this from awesome Louie from Club crochet and
his hobgoblin patterns (ClubCrochet.com). It is like a bobble
stitch with a mini picot in the middle. This creates a nice
claw for the dragon. You could also replace this with a
bobble stitch, although the fingers will be rounded instead of
spiked.
Yarn over, crochet in next stitch, yarn over, pass through,
yarn over, pass through 2 loops. Yarn over, crochet in the
same stitch, yarn over, pass through, yarn over, pass
through 2 loops. Ch 2 then sl st in 2nd ch from the hook.
Yarn over, crochet in the same stitch, yarn over, pass
through, yarn over, pass through 2 loops. Yarn over, pass
through 4 loops.

Everything is crocheted in rounds without joining or turning unless otherwise specified.

Parts in parenthesis are supposed to be repeated all around, numbers in brackets are the final
count.
HEAD
I made 2 versions of the head, one with small ears and no nostrils, one with nostrils and larger ears. The
purple parts are the changes needed for the second version.

Nostril: ch 2, sl st in 2nd chain

Ear: I tried 2 versions:
Small ear: ch 3, sl st in 2nd chain, sl st in next ch
Larger ear: ch 4, sl st in 2nd chain, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch

small, depending on the type of eyes you may need to cut the part inside after inserting the
washer

can insert the head and be able to bend it properly

The body is supposed to have a side of the neck a little bit longer on the opposite side of the belly, this
will make it easier to sew on the head

Sew to the body.

Insert a wire or a piece of pipe cleaner folded in half, make sure to leave enough to put into the body at
least half an inch. Sew to the body.

WINGS
Start with contrast color. The wings are crocheted in rows and not rounds, so turn at the end of each
row.

12. Fasten off, attach body color where you just ended
13. Sc along the top edge of the wing up until the 'elbow' (~5)
14. Mark a line from this 'elbow' to the the 1st 'ch3 turn' and sl st along this line
15. Ch 2, sl st 1, then sl st all the way back to the 'elbow' on the back of the wing (where you can
only see a kind of dashed line). Folding the wing makes this easier
16. Sl st in the 'elbow, then mark a 2nd line to the 3rd 'ch 3 turn' and sl st along this line
17. Ch 2, sl st 1, then sl st all the way back to the 'elbow' on the back of the wing (where you can
only see a kind of dashed line). Folding the wing makes this easier
18. Keep sc along the top edge of the wing until the end (~10), ch3, turn
19. 2Sl st, then 10 sl st again until the 'elbow'. When you reach the gap where you created the
vertical lines sc in one of the sc of the row below to fill it, ch3, sl st 2, sl st in the same prev sc. Sl
st until the beginning of the wing

Do the other wing in the same way, making sure to flip it first so you have one left wing and one
right wing. Sew to the back
SPIKES

Small spike

Medium spike

Large spike
Ch4, sl st in 2nd ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch

Wide large spike

Ch4, sl st in 2nd ch, sc in next ch, dc in next ch
Keep adding spikes until you have enough for the body of your dragon. I like making smaller ones on the
head and tail, and larger ones on the back.
Sew this to the body.
Use the wires in the body and arms to shape your dragon so it can hold on to your laptop screen.
