Course Descriptions
Communication plays a major role in all human activities within the business community.
Professionals are required to have command on professional communication which is a
combinaiton of effective interacting, informing, instructing and persuading. This means that
people who possess demonstrable skills in these activities are employed, prized and promoted. If
businesses are to survive in an increasingly competitive and information-oriented environment
they will need trained communicators, who can speak, write and interact with others efficiently,
effectively and professionally. This course is intended to address these busness issues and to let
the students understand these concepts and principles of professional business communication.
Course Objectives
The course will have the following objectives:
1. To make the student understand communication, communication process, and the role of
effective business communication in organization;
2. To make them understand different modes of business communication and to develop
them to effectively utilize these modes;
3. To make them understand the role of effective communication in team work, conflict
resolution, self-exposure and bargaining; and
4. To develop and polish their communication skills so to enhance their self-confidence.
Learning Outcomes
On the completion of this course, the student will be able:
1. To have understood communication, communication process and why effective business
communication in organization is vital;
2. To have grasped different modes of business communication and have the capability to
indigenously apply these modes;
3. To utilize effective communication in effective team building, conflict resolution, self-
exposure and self-presentation; and
4. To have developed diverse communication skills with greater self-confidence.

Mid-Term examination 30%
In-Semester Evaluation (Quizzes/Assignments/Presentations, etc.) 20%
Final-Term Exam 50%
