DAILY DATE August 1, 2019 Thursday DATE August 2, 2019 Friday
LESSON SECTIONS Norway (12), ,Austria (1) SECTIONS Belgium (2), Finland (4)
LOG DLL NO.
I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of;
A. Content Standards
 The learners demonstrate an understanding of some
properties and characteristics of visible light.
The learners demonstrate an understanding an understanding of;
B. Performance Standards  The learners present a report on phenomena such as blue
sky, rainbow, and red sunset using the concept of
wavelength and frequency of visible light.
The learners should be able to....
 The learners should be able to demonstrate the existence of the color
components of visible light using a prism or diffraction grating; S8FE-If-26
C. Learning Competencies/
 discuss what happens to light as it interacts with matter
Objectives LC code for each
 use a diagram to show how light interacts with matter
 recognize that what they are seeing when they look at an object
is the light reflected off

IV. PROCEDURES
Sorting Out :
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Where does light come from? What are some "sources" of light?
presenting the new lesson Sort the following examples by identifying which is man made and which is
natural?

B. Establishing a purpose for the

lesson Key Question for this topic:
 How do light interacts with matter?
 What happens to light as it interacts with matter?
 In what ways can light be reflected when it hits a surface?
Are these light sources?

Moon Water Mirror

C. Presenting examples/instances of . Answer:
the new lesson These items are not light sources, instead they are reflecting light from
other sources.
Unlocking Difficulties:
Interact = to act upon one another; to come together and have an effect
on each other
Reflect = to move in one direction, hit a surface and then quickly move in
different and usually opposite direction.
Refract = to alter or distort; to make change direction when it goes
through at an angle.
1 Discussing new concepts and Activity
practicing new skills #1 Flashlight Predictions
Time Allotment: 15 minutes

Procedure:.
1. Learner will work in groups.
2. Remind the learners on their task/role for group activity
3. Highlight and underline important concepts or information about light.
4. Before doing the activity, ask the group to write their own prediction on
how light interacts with the material given.
5. Draw an arrow to show the path of the light beam.

Assesment 3) Checking Your Understanding
Light and matter
Where does the light go after it strikes the object?
 Some of the light is absorbed by the object and some is reflected to our
eyes.
 When light hits something (air, glass, a green wall, a black dress), it may
be
o Transmitted (if the thing is transparent)
o Reflected or scattered (off mirror or raindrops)
o Absorbed (off a black velvet dress)
o Often it’s some combination.

In what ways can light be reflected when it hits a surface?

 If the surface is smooth, the light is reflected at the same angle
 it came in. If the surface is rough, the light is scattered in all directions.
 When the surface is somewhere in-between, it reflects light close to the
same angle it came in

Your opinion here!

How does light make it possible for us to see the world around us?
4 Finding practical applications
Answer:
of concepts and skills in daily
Light travelling from the object is intercepted by the eye. The eye acts like a
living
camera, which capture this reflected light on the retina (film) for the brain to
interpret.

Concept that needs to be emphasized

You can only see light when it is reflected (bounced) off an object or
when your eye intercepts rays from the light source
5 Making generalizations and
Light travels in straight lines and can be made to change its direction
abstraction about the lesson
when an object in its path reflects the beam.
Different type of objects reflect different amounts of light. In addition to
reflection, light also can be partially absorbed or transmitted by an
object.

6 Evaluate learning Match the diagram with the description below. Write the letter of the correct
answer.

1. a. the waves can be absorbed by the object

2. b. the waves can pass through the object

3. c. The waves can be reflected of the object

4. d. The waves can be scattered of the object

5. e. The waves can be refracted off the object
