1.3 Submittals

Submittals shall be in accordance with the PO (Purchase Order) or Contract Scope of

Work and the following:

A. Weld Maps

A weld map shall be submitted along with the WPSs (Welding Procedure
Specifications) and PQRs (Procedure Qualification Records). The weld map may be
a single-line sketch and shall indicate where each WPS is to be used. This may be
done in typical fashion including all pressure-retaining joints, load bearing to
pressure-retaining parts and weld overlay or clad restoration.

B. DHT (Dehydrogenation Heat Treatment)

If the Seller intends to use a DHT, a written DHT procedure detailing the heating
method, holding time and holding temperature to be used shall be submitted for
Buyer’s review at the same time the weld map is submitted.

2.0 PRODUCTS

2.1 General

General design and fabrication requirements shall be in accordance with ASME Section VIII,
Division 1 or 2, whichever is applicable.

2.2 Welding

Acceptable Welding Processes

See Project specification MQ-SP-M-4041 for a list of acceptable welding processes and
associated limitations.

2.3 Thermal Treatment

A. Preheat Requirements

1. The suggested minimum preheat temperatures given in ASME Section VIII,

Division 1, Appendix R or ASME Section VIII, Division 2, Appendix D are
mandatory and shall be specified on the WPS.

B. PWHT (Postweld Heat Treatment) Requirements

1. PWHT shall be in accordance with Project specification MQ-SP-M-4041.

Process or design conditions requiring more stringent PWHT requirements

will be given in specific service specifications. Minimum PWHT holding

temperature for P-4 and P-5 material shall be 1275°F (690°C).

2. PWHT shall be performed in accordance with a written procedure that details

the PWHT method to be used, heating and cooling rates, holding time and
temperature and thermocouple locations via a sketch for each component to
be PWHT'd.

3. Local PWHT of components in caustic or amine service shall be performed in

accordance with WRC (Welding Research Council) Bulletin 452. The local
PWHT procedure shall include a sketch for each component including the
dimensions of the soak, heat and gradient bands and the locations of the
TCs (thermocouples) used to ensure the temperatures at the extreme edges
of these bands have been achieved. The local PWHT procedure shall be
submitted for review prior to starting production PWHT.

2.4 NDE (Nondestructive Examination) Requirements

The extent of NDE for each component shall be as specified in the P.O. All NDE
examinations shall include a band of base metal at least 1 inch (25 mm) wide on each
side of welds to be examined.

A. PT (Liquid Penetrant Examination)

PT examination and evaluation of indications shall be in accordance with the

requirements and methods specified in ASME Code, Section V, Article 6, and ASME
Section VIII, Division 1, Appendix 8 or ASME Section VIII, Division 2, Appendix 9, Article
9-2, as applicable. Penetrant test materials shall meet the requirements of ASME
Section V, Article 6, Paragraph T-641, for sulphur and halogen content regardless of the
type of material to be examined. Maximum chloride content of penetrant test materials to
be used on austenitic stainless steel shall be 50 PPM.

B. MT (Magnetic Particle Examination)

MT examination and evaluation of indications shall be in accordance with the

requirements and methods specified in ASME Code, Section V, Article 7, and ASME
Section VIII, Division 1, Appendix 6 or ASME Section VIII, Division 2, Appendix 9, Article
9-1, as applicable.
