The two types of Post-Ramadan Dip

In the this The underlying causes of the Post-Ramadan

session… Dip

The 4 Steps to Climb Out of the Post-

Ramadan Dip

How to develop a long-term practical plan

for your post-Ramadan growth
Does this sound like you?
1. Each year, you come out of Ramadan, with clear “Ramadan
Resolutions” but you don’t follow through? OR…
2. You start the period post-Ramadan really strong, but after a few
weeks, your motivation wanes and you fall back into your old self?
OR…
3. You make a mistake/commit a sin in the first few weeks post-
Ramadan, you beat yourself up, feel guilty, and think that you’re a
hypocrite or not good enough to be better?
I have some good news…

It is ABSOLUTELY normal to have a

Post-Ramadan Dip*!

(*But there are two types of Post-Ramadan Dips)

The Normal .(‫ وﺻﺣﺣﮫ اﻷﻟﺑﺎﻧﻲ‬،‫أﺣﻣد‬
vs. Abnormal "Indeed for every deed there is a zeal, and for

Dip every zeal there is a slackening. So whoever’s

slackening is towards my Sunnah, then he’s
successful. But if his slackening towards other
than my Sunnah then he’s ruined"
”Slackening for people on the path has to occur.
Whoever’s slackening is moderate, and did not take him
The Normal away from Obligatory acts, and did not make him commit
Haram, then it is hoped that he’ll return better than he
vs. Abnormal was”

“The Nafs/Self has comings and goings, when it comes
take it with determination and worship, and if it goes
slow it down with Obligatory acts and Wajibat”
What are the causes of this Dip?

1. Spiritual
2. Psychological
3. Social/Environment
• Your two enemies are in full gear (and we let
our guard down):
• Your Nafs
Spiritual • Your Shaytaan

• Linked with Physical “relaxation” post-

Ramadan (binge eating, over-sleeping)
• The Licensing Effect
Psychological • The “What the Hell” Effect
Social/ • Willpower Power is overrated
Environment • High Stress vs. Low Stress Environments
• Your Defaults
