 AECOM is hiring a Specification Writer/Senior Architect for our Columbus, OH office. The
duties will include
 Responsible for providing architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and
recommendations for a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline within the
schedules and budget of an assigned project.
 May manage various size groups of architects, designers and/or specialists.
 May work on modest size projects and/or assist Project Architectural or Engineering
Managers with higher grades.
 Minimum Requirements
 BA/BS in Architecture or Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated
equivalency of experience and/or education.
 Must have experience in writing specifications for architectural projects in the areas of
Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial or Higher Education.

 CSI Membership

Specification Writer (MGA):


 MGA | Michael Green Architecture is an award-winning mid-sized architecture and design

 Develop and maintain a master specification library.
 Collaborate in the development and maintenance of the database of products and
materials.
 Prepare project specifications and maintain them throughout all phases of work.
 Analyze plans and specific details to perform quality control reviews and ensure project
documents meet requirements.
 Liaise closely with clients to offer technical opinions and recommendations.
 Coordinate internally between specifications and drawings. Evaluate specifications
against drawings and vice versa to avoid discrepancies or errors.

 REQUIREMENTS:
 Architecture degree or Architectural Technologist diploma from an accredited program.
 Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural specification writing.
 Certification as Registered Specification Writer (RSW) or Certified Specification
Practitioner (CSP) is an asset.
 Strong knowledge of building codes, processes, and bylaws (federal, provincial, and
local). Knowledge of U.S. building codes will be considered an asset.
 Ability to supervise and assist staff in the preparation of contract specifications.
 Familiarity with best practices in sustainable design and construction including selection
of materials for occupant and contractor health will be considered an asset.
 Self-motivated; ability to manage time well and work efficiently towards deadlines.
 Methodical and excellent organizational skills.
 Familiar with Canadian and US Standard and up-to-date with current technologies.
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
 Collaborative and professional work ethic with Experience working with

 Job Objectives
 We are seeking an experienced Bid Manager/Writer who is motivated, organised

sector. The post will manage the development of bids (up to multi-million-pound
contracts) by translating strategic vision and liaising with key contributors from
across the organisation into tailored, bespoke, innovative and evidence-based
responses in line with commissioned specifications, word/page limit restrictions and

timescales
 Incorporate local knowledge, evidence/research and writing style/branding

practice
 Project manage and incorporate input from bid partners, directors, technical experts
and wider team as necessary, to ensure a consistent and coherent final bid against
scoring criteria
 Provide structured format and text for others contributing to bid. Quality assure, re-
write for consistency/correct grammar as necessary and provide constructive

 Here’s what you’ll be doing:
 Reporting to the Director of Specifications this role involves research of project
scope, materials and codes, design collaboration, keynoting and general costing. The
position requires interaction with Revit.
 Write technical specifications (project manuals and drawing sheet specifications) for
building and interior projects in accordance with Master Format and AIA standards.
 Coordinate and publish specification documents, including documents prepared by
consultants.
 Work with project design teams and consultants to research and recommend
components and building systems that support project design program and design
intent.
 Stay current the latest standards and forces affecting product and system availability
 Use creativity and knowledge to solve problems
 Attend team meetings and internal scheduling meetings
 Perform technical research on products to be included in the written specification.
 Incorporate applicable Federal, State and Local laws, ordinances, regulations,
statutory and documentation requirements for specifications.

 4+ years related specifications, architecture or related experience required
 Bachelors of Architecture or Building Construction required; licensed or on track to
be licensed preferred
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required

specifications for an A/E firm.
 Must be a multi-tasker who has strong organizational and word processing skills,
reliable, dedicated to accuracy and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
 CCS Certification preferred.
 TS/SCI or the ability to obtain preferred.
 Experience in writing Division 01 Sections and Construction Administration

Architectural Specification Writer/Specialist (Steinberg Hart):


 Overview: Steinberg Hart is seeking a Specification Writer/Specialist to prepare
specifications for projects in our U.S. offices. The candidate will be responsible for
maintaining firmwide technical information resources and play a key role in supporting
project teams and utilizing current information technology to maximize use of BIM.

 Responsibilities
 Prepare project manuals for construction projects, supporting all Steinberg Hart
offices.
 Provide specifications for diverse delivery methods and project types.
 Maintain a base specification that can be applied to all projects to streamline
production and to control quality.
 Maintain the base Specification by incorporating current codes and standards.
 Use current information technology to streamline links between BIM models and

 Requirements
 California Licensed Architect and Certified Construction Specifier (CCS).
 Ability to gather, organize, and analyze design information in preparing specs.
 Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as time management skills.
 10 years of progressively responsible experience writing specifications for
architecture, engineering, construction firms or in a related field.
 Full knowledge of industry practices and a proven track record of quality control on
progressively more complex and diverse projects.
 Experience in construction document preparation and field observation, knowledge
of building materials, Type I/III/V construction, and current construction techniques.
 Understanding of sustainability practices.
 Proficiency in MS Word and other relevant computer software.
 LEED AP preferred.
 Working knowledge of Military Specifications would be a bonus
