Bobby Bucket Bag

Notes
● This pattern is written in US crochet terms
● The pattern is worked in a continuous round, with tight tension to minimise holes
● Don't join the ends of rows with a slip stitch unless noted

Stitches
● Magic ring tutorial here
● SC = single crochet (UK double crochet)
● HDC = half double crochet (UK half treble)
● Ch = chain
● Sl st = slip stitch

Gauge:
Although gauge is not that critical for a bag, please note that I used a tight tension for this
pattern in order to minimise the holes/gaps. If your tension is a lot looser, your bag will end
up larger, and you may not finish the pattern with only 4 balls of yarn.
● 8 HDC x 6 rows = 10×10 cm

Bobby Bucket Bag

Pattern
***Work in continuous round, crochet tightly***
**Use a stitch marker to keep track of the start of your rows*”

Start with a magic ring

1. ch 1, 10 x HDC into the magic ring and pul ringl tight
2. SC in the 1st st of previous row, HDC into the same stitch, 2x HDC in each of the
remaining 9 stitches (20 stitches)
3. *HDC in the 1st st of previous row, 2x HDC in the next stitch* repeat x 9
(30 HDC)
4. *HDC in the 1st and 2nd st of previous row, 2x HDC in the 3rd stitch* repeat x 9
(40 HDC)
5. *HDC in the 1st three st of previous row, 2x HDC in the 4th stitch* repeat x 9
(50 HDC)
6. *HDC in the 1st four st of previous row, 2x HDC in the 5th stitch* repeat x 9
(60 HDC)
7. *HDC in the 1st five st of previous row, 2x HDC in the 6th stitch* repeat x 9
(70 HDC)
8- 26. HDC in each stitch around (70 HDC)
27. HDC in the first 12 st, ch 12 and skip 10 st, HDC in the next 25 st, ch 12 and skip
10 st, HDC in the next 13 st (50 HDC, 2x12 ch spaces)

***At the point you should check your tension compared to my gauge (above)****
If your tension is a lot looser, you won't finish the bag with only 4 balls.
SOLUTION: unpick one row and start forming the handles on row 27 instead of 28

28. HDC in the first 12 st, 20 HDC in the ch 12 space, HDC in the next 25 st, 20 HDC
in the ch 12 space, HDC in the next 11 st, SC in the next st, sl st in the next st^
(88 HDC, 1 SC, 1 sl st)
29. Sl st into the first st of previous round, ch 1, SC in the same st, SC in each st
around, join at end with slip st and finish off. (90 SC).

^Note: this is to create a level base for the start and end of the final row. In the final row, the last
SC will be into the sl st at the end of row 28.
