REFLECTION PAPER 2 (Module 2)

Module 2 tackles the critical issues that surround gender and society. There are a lot of

issues regarding gender and the society. The biggest one is the problem about the rights of

certain LGBTQ members. LGBTQ stands for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender and Queer.

These are people who identify themselves, oppositely from their sex. In the past few years,

these people have been fighting for their rights, rights such as to use a bathroom that is

suitable to their gender identity, or on how they see themselves. For example, a gay wants to

use the female comfort room. This raises a lot of issues. Because a gay may be feminine by

gender and gender identity, but when it comes to sex, a gay is a man, a male. Therefore, with

things like this happening, there have been, protests, debates and even cases that were

brought upon the court for trials. This one is a topic, truly in need of tinkering.

Also discussed in this module was the gender discrimination in the workplace, which

happens similarly like how it is for a family in a household. At work, there commonly bosses,

and high-ranking officials that are men. Why are there a few women who are in such high

positions in careers? Well, as I have learned through our discussions and sharing of insights,

there are only a lot of males in high positions because of the trend that men should be the only

one that works for the family, although this idea goes back from what is possible today. In

modern times women are also starting to occupy high-ranking jobs. Which is a good thing if you

think about it in the scope of equality. Combined men and women who knows how to do a lot

of things means a lot of people who are capable, thus, creating a society that is very productive
no matter the gender. And who knows, maybe equality will lead us to unity, ending gender and

racial problems today.
