Theory 1: (Child Adolescence Development)
Theory 1: (Child Adolescence Development)
2. IDENTIFY THREE (3) INDIVIDUALS THAT HELPED YOU AS A PERSON AND BRIEFLY
DISCUSS EACH PROCESS.
Susan– She is my aunt in my father’s side, she’s the one who’s been supporting my studies financially. I’m
really thankful to her for not getting tired of me and for always being there when I needed her the most. Even
though she’s miles away from us and I only saw her personally once, I always thought of her as an important
part of my family.
Norberto – He is my father who always there for us, even though there are time that he cannot support us and
sometimes he’s being unreasonable, I respect him. I’ve learned an important lesson in life because of him.
Because of him I learned that you need to think carefully before making a decision that will affect you for your
whole life.
Marilyn – She is my mother who taught me the wrongs and the rights since i was a child. She made some
mistakes but she’s the person I love the most, I love to spend time with her because I feel like there’s no
boundary between us. She can act like a friend and a mother at the same time.
Who am I? This is a question that I should ask myself every day. It's a question that helps me to evaluate
my life, and what it means to me. There are many parts that add up to make the sum of me, from my
physical appearance, societal roles, character traits and spiritual life. Although many say, physical
appearance isn’t everything, which is for the most part is true. One's physical appearance is the part that
everyone one sees first and off that they make their judgments and opinions of who you are. Just from
the first look you may give off to the way you wear your hair and the way you dress. I believe that my
appearance shows people that I am a strong individual who follows no one but herself. I have a light
black hair, dark brown eyes and tanned skin. I used to cut my hair short but I love keeping it long now. I
usually wear shirt and pants, I only wear dresses when there’s an even or celebrations.
As a student, I might be lazy to do my responsibilities sometimes but I never failed to do it, I never let
myself fail a single subject. As a student, I learned to work with others in a group and I always
contribute in it. There are times that I needed to be the one to be the choreography for our p.e. dance,
when a task is given to me I have this strong sense of responsibility to make it work and to make it
possible for all of us. As a daughter, am I good or not? I cannot tell it myself whether I am, but I’m
certain that I’m not the perfect child that my parents wanted. I make mistakes, and I’m naughty
sometimes, not listening and doing everything I want but I always put into my heart their lessons
because I know that all of it are for me. As a friend, I am funny and I love to laugh a lot but that’s all
because my friends makes me laugh all the time. They said that my smile and laugh is my great asset but
that great asset is all thanks to them. I’m a reliable friend who can be there when they need someone to
talk to, give advices and comfort them.
I like to look at myself as a genuine, thoughtful young lady. I can be a hard worker, I believe nothing is
ever handed to you so you have to go get it. I care more for some others than I do myself but I have a huge
nonchalant attitude. I don’t really show anger or sadness in front of others much I always smile because
I’m optimistic about life. I’m the odd ball of my family because I am nothing like anyone. I’m the only
one who loves to write stories and have my own little world, but writing and drawing makes me a hard
working person. Like what others always used to say, “Do what you love” and I do believe in that because
there is no greater accomplishment more than achieving the things that you love to do. How can you learn
how to do what doesn’t interest you if you never did something you love alone? Starting from loving what
you love, you can also learn how to care for the things that you never thought of giving a glance.
A couple of good talks I had this past month came about through a lot battling my desire to take an easier
way out. Some people might think of me as someone who never spend time to pray and talk to god, yes I
rarely visit church and yes I don’t talk much about him but I never fail to talk to the god every night before
I go to sleep. Is loving god is all about showing it? Is it all about going to church to show people that you
worship him? For me, loving him and worshiping him doesn’t require anything. All you need is to believe
in him and do believe that god exist. Do I believe that god does exist? Yes, how can I tell? Do I have
proof? No I don’t have proof nor I could explain it for others to understand, because I just simply believe.
PROVERBS 22: 6 TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO AND WHEN HE IS OLD HE
WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT
Parents have the responsibilities to teach their children what matters to God. It doesn't mean forcing
them into a certain set of beliefs or rituals; rather, it means demonstrating a real faith – one that puts the
focus on loving God and loving others. In my view, there's not a greater purpose we can have in life than
reflecting God's image for the children to see. Children are going to learn about the world around them
and their role in it. If they don’t learn from adults, they will learn from someone else. It’s parent’s
responsibility to use their time with their kids wisely.
PSALM 90:12 TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS THAT WE MAY APPLY OUR HEARTS UNTO
WISDOM
If intelligible at all, must mean “that we may offer a wise heart,” and the natural way to understand the
verse is to make God, not man, as in the Authorised Version, the reckoner of the days. “In allotting our
days thus make us know (make us know the power of Thine anger), in order that we may present a wise
heart.”
The Golden Rule is the ethical principle of treating other people as one's self would prefer to be treated.
One of Jesus' most famous and impactful teachings. The Golden Rule encompasses the empathic
essence of morality. It is a simple yet powerful way of saying that we should recognize the respective
dignity of our fellow man and not forget we all are capable of inflicting immoral actions. This is vital in
following the commandments of God and creating a more virtuous world.
First as a teacher we need to consult him what is the problem why he’s shutting himself out from the
others, and ask his friends and classmates if they know anything. If there’ll be no improvement, it’s
better to talk with his parents or guardian if they know the source of the problem and give an appropriate
advice.
CASE STUDY #2
ROSE IS A CATHOLIC SCHOOL STUDENT WHO GETS STRAIGHT A’S, IS WELL MANNERED,
ENJOYS STUDENT INTERACTION, PARTICIPATING IN CLASS AND CHALLENGING HERSELF
WITH HER STUDIES. YOU NOTICE THAT ROSE SEEMS A BIT SAD ONE DAY AND SHE ISN’T
ACTING LIKE HERSELF. THE FOLLOWING DAY, SHE IS ACTING LIKE HERSELF AGAIN. ROSE’S
MOTHER IS A PART OF THE PARENT COUNCIL AND BOTH HER PARENTS ARE INVOLVED IN
SCHOOL EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS. ROSE’S PARENTS CONTACT YOU (THE TEACHER)
REGULARLY TO ASK HOW ROSE IS DOING IN SCHOOL. ROSE IS WELL LIKED BY HER PEERS
AND IS NEVER DISRUPTIVE IN CLASS.
Talk with her mother about her behavior the past days, it is important because it she might acts like that
again. There are times that a certain event will be repeated again, especially when it comes to student.
So as a teacher, we need to act before the situation gets worse.
CASE STUDY #3
JUDE RECENTLY IMMIGRATED TO CANADA FROM SAUDI ARABIA. HE DOES VERY WELL IN
MATH CLASS, BUT IS STRUGGLING A LOT IN LANGUAGE. YOU, AS THE TEACHER HAVE TRIED
CONTACTING THE PARENTS OVER THE PHONE TO DISCUSS JUDE’S PROGRESS IN SCHOOL;
HOWEVER, YOU HAVE A HARD TIME CONVERSING WITH THEM BECAUSE THERE IS A
LANGUAGE BARRIER.
Use English while conversing with them if you still having hard time, get a help with someone who
speaks and understand the language that the family use.
CASE STUDY #4
RUDY IS A KIND BOY IN YOUR CLASS WHO GETS AVERAGE GRADES BUT HAS A HARD TIME
CREATING FRIENDSHIPS WITH HIS PEERS, AND RARELY PARTICIPATES DURING CLASS
DISCUSSIONS. YOU, AS THE TEACHER, HAVE OVERHEARD SOME STUDENTS MAKING FUN OF
RUDY FOR HAVING TWO DADS. YOU DON’T KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT BUT YOU HAVE
OBSERVED THAT STUDENTS DO NOT MAKE AN EFFORT TO TALK TO RUDY.
Have a discussion with the other students and tell them that it is wrong to talk about other people and
there’s nothing wrong with it because that’s his family and if they’re happy as a family then it’s okay.
Then contact Rudy’s parent and discuss the situation with them and plan an event that will make the
others understand rudy more and for them to get know each other well.
Family Engagement
The Bureau of Family & Community Outreach (BFCO) provides resources, recognition and technical
assistance to families in an effort to increase family engagement that promotes their children's success in
education. BFCO has the role of fostering wider and more substantive family and community
involvement by identifying and sharing information with schools and districts about the many different
ways to get involved in your child's education.
