cultural situation in the Philippines. Provide a short explanation for the symbolisms that you
used.

Description:
In the caricature seen above, there is a man blindfolded (representing the people of the nation)
and on his left side is another man (representing the government) wearing a facemask on top of a
bag of money. The government is trying to assure the nation that everything is going well with
the management of the country, but the people already know the truth about the current situation,
corruption is at an all-time high (represented by the bag of money), there is no presence of
equality, and the current Covid-19 pandemic is not being dealt with properly (represented by
improper wearing of mask), that’s why the man in the middle is wearing a blindfold, we
Filipinos just seem so powerless at this point, that it feels like everything that we do will have no
impact towards changing the country for the better, resulting in others turning a blind eye to the
situation and just accepting the fact that the nation is on the brink of collapsing (represented by
cracks on the stool).
Moreover, to the right of the man in the middle is a row of walls about to fall on the kid. The
walls represent a series of unfortunate events (domino effect) that is about to ruin the lives of
millions of people that have dreams and aspirations to pursue (represented by the kid), all
because of the incompetency of the government. Also, the small and dim light above them
represents the dark and distant future of the nation, that will surely occur if incapable individuals
continue to run the country.
