CHAPTER 1
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Today’s bandwidth requirement applications such as Internet access, Remote LAN access, teleconferencing,
workgroup and data sharing, telecomputing and various digital services demanded for the high speed data
network access
The demand for the telephone connections is increasing at much faster rate, Along with telephone connections
demanded for the high data rate leased lines is also increasing.
Teamlink 3002 SHDSL modem utilizes the technology as per the ITU-T G.991.2 combining the SDSL and
HDSL technologies; Teamlink 3002 SHDSL uses the TCPAM (Trellis coded pulse amplitude Modulation)
modulation technique for achieving the maximum data rate and maximum reach.
Teamlink 3002 SHDSL modem supports the user data rates from the 64Kbps to 2048/2312Kbps using
TCPAM on 0.4mm/0.5mm/0.6mm or mixed twisted copper pair in access network without regenerator or
repeater.
CHAPTER 2
2.1 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Teamlink 3002SHDSL Modem having three functional blocks
The Main board in the Teamlink 3002SHDSL modem is having High efficient 16Bit microprocessor for the
Configuration of the DSL and PCM framers. Microprocessor will do the Startup, configuration, EOC
Messages collecting and BER calculation etc.
The DSL Card is having DSL Framer and Formatter for the Data, clock, sync recovery from the Analog line,
this is also responsible for framing E1PRA or BRI or Synchronous data into G.SHDSL Frame as per ITU-T
G.991.2 specifications. This framer is having two main sections, transmitter and receiver.
DSL transmitter will receive the data from the PCM interface / User interface in the form of bit streams and
maps the data to the appropriate Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) symbols and it will forward to the AFE
section of the DSP for the digital to Analog conversion.
The receiver receives the serialized data from the AFE, Trellis coded pulse amplitude Modulator and
demodulator will recovers the information like clock, data, sync and forwarded to the PCM interface in the
form of serialized data.

SHDSL User Manual
Here are Four User Interfaces in the Teamlink 3002SHDSL 2 wire Nx64 Modem
They are
1. G703 E1 Interface [120 Ohms Balanced and 75 Ohms Unbalanced]
2. V35 Interface
3. 2/4 Port Ethernet Switch Interface [ Autocross over,autosensing,10/100 Mbps]
4. G703 Co-Directional Interface [ Fixed 64 Kbps Modem with AMI PCM Coding ]
The G703 E1 is having 4 wire Physical interface where one pair is for the Transmit and other
is for the receive direction.G703 E1 is as per the ITU-T G703,G704 standards and HDB3 line coding
is being used. This G703 E1 Interface can be configured in UNFRAMED mode No framing
requirement, can be configured in PCM31/PCM30 with CRC Enable or disable options.
Teamlink 3002SHDSL-V35 modem will support Nx64 data rates. N will starts from 1 to 32
timeslots and the same modem will be compatible with 64Kbps G703 Co-directional interface modem
I at another end.
In 2 Port Ethernet Interface mode the Modem is having 2 10/100 Mbps auto sensing, auto
cross over, half / Full duplex Ethernet interface In this mode 4K address learning table for local
address filtering.
In 4 Port Ethernet Interface mode the Modem is having 4 10/100 Mbps auto sensing, auto cross
over, half / Full duplex Ethernet interface In this mode 4K address learning table for local address filtering.
G703 4 Wire Interface is used for fixed 64Kbps speeds in This Mode the G703 transmit and
receive sections will use AMI Coding.

6. INSTALLATION
6.1 DSL LINE QUALIFICATION
1. Check the Loop resistance and continuity of the copper cable pair using multimeter. The loop resistance of
the copper cable per one kilometer is approximately 170 Ohms to 175 Ohms on 0.5mm diameter copper cable.
The maximum loop resistance and the distance between the central and remote modems on 0.5mm diameter
cable pair should not exceed the specified limits.
2. For 2048Kbps speed loop resistance should not exceed 1032 Ohms
3. If the loop resistance exceeds the above specified limits errors will results in the data.
4. Check the AC and DC voltages in the DSL copper cable by using the multi meter there should
not be any AC and DC voltages.
5. Check the power cables and DSL line cables while on installing the modem in the field.
6. Insert the Power cable 230AC or 48DC depending on the user requirement and power on the
Modem
7. Wait for few seconds to boot the system and check the MR Led.
8. After MR Led is ON in the modem the modem is ready for connectivity with other modem.
2. The COT [Master] modem will Placed at the Exchange side and the remote modem
[Slave Modem] is placed at the router Router side.
3. Connect the E1 (PCM) Cable to COT Modem. (1-2 and 4-5 pins)
5. Connect the DSL line [4&5 pins] of the RJ45 cable to the both master and the slave modems.
6. Wait for the DSL linkup LED to turn on from blinking stage [blinking state will indicates the
Modem is trying to synchronize]
7. After the DSL link is stable then Modems are ready to use.
