1. This paper introduces the Eco-Greenergy TM hybrid wind-solar photovoltaic energy

generation system and its applications By (Wen Tong Chong et al). The system is an

integration of the novel omni-direction-guide-vane (ODGV) with a vertical axis wind

turbine (VAWT). The ODGV is designed to surround the VAWT for wind power

augmentation by creating a venturi effect to increase the on-coming wind speed before it

interacts with the turbine blades. In wind tunnel tests, the ODGV improves the power

output of the VAWT by 3.48 times compared with a bare VAWT at its peak torque.

Furthermore, the rotor rotational speed of the wind turbine increased by 182% at 6 m/s of

wind speed. A solar PV panel can be mounted on the top surface of the ODGV for solar

energy generation. Estimation on wind-solar energy output shows that the system can

generate a total of 572.8 kWh of energy per year. By comparison, the ODGV increases

the annual wind energy output by 438%. The green energy generated from the hybrid

system can be used to power LED lights or other appliances (e.g., CCTV camera). [6]

2. According to the thesis entitled, Hybrid Energy with Solar Tracking for Street Light By

(R B S Rao et al) the test of research in renewable energy micro generation technology is

the lucky combination of efficiency and urban integration. Indeed, the application field

with the biggest potential is within cities where the number of small consumers is

concentrated. Obviously, in this context, the acceptance of people towards the installation

of new power plants becomes essential for the success of projects. The thermal power
COLEGIO DE SAN GABRIEL ARCANGEL

stations are causing pollution which severely affects mankind and nature. These power

stations result in causing many diseases. Also the natural resources like coal, oil, radio-

active materials etc. will get extinct in near future. The other existing power generating

systems like Hydro-Electrical power generating plants cannot afford much power as it is

season based, although it causes less pollution. Therefore, it is of great urgency to go for

non-conventional energy resources. The most popular non-conventional energy resource

is solar energy which converts solar energy or solar radiation to electricity. The aim of

this work is to design and implement a hybrid power generation system using wind

energy and solar energy. Solar and wind are easily available in all conditions. The non-

conventional energy resources like solar, wind can be good alternative source. Solar

energy has drawback that it could not produce electrical energy in rainy and cloudy

season so to overcome this drawback use wind energy resources so that any one of source

fails other source will keep generating the electricity. Solar and wind has good

advantages other than any other non-conventional energy sources. Both the energy

sources have greater availability in all areas. To reduce the cost of the energy, use a solar

tracker. This additional output or “gain” can be quantified as a percentage of the output of

the stationary array. Gain varies significantly with latitude, climate, and the type of

tracker to choose as well as the orientation of a stationary installation in the same

location. Solar tracker add to the efficiency of the system, reducing its size and the cost

per KWH. In the fabricated model, the Solar Street Lamp reduces electrical grid energy

consumption and serves as an example to advocate for renewable energy. The Street

systems.[7]

3. Based on the thesis entitled, wind-solar hybrid streetlights by Wang Liangchen,

Streetlights spend a lot of electricity as the people's livelihood needed. In today's energy

crisis, wind-solar hybrid streetlights can solve this problem. But the principle of wind-

solar hybrid streetlight is not known for the most of people. Understanding the principles

of wind-solar hybrid streetlights can better promote the technology. The wind-solar

hybrid system is a kind of wind energy and solar energy into electrical energy device.

Wind-solar hybrid streetlights working principle is the following: The sys- 12 tems use

natural wind and solar energy as power. Wind wheel absorbs the wind energy to make the

wind generator rotating, making the wind energy into electrical energy. The electric

current through the controller of the rectifier makes the alternating current into direct

current by the voltage stabilizing effect. Then electric power will charge the battery pack,

and the battery will store the electric energy. At the same time, the solar energy will

transform into direct current by using photovoltaic affect. The electric power will be used

for the load, or stored in the battery for standby. [8]
