Activity#1
Assessment on Learning 1

1. Give and explain the characteristics of OBE.

ans.
There are 3 characteristics of OBE. First, it is student centered, in this situation, teachers served
as a facilitator of the class. Students can now express their ideas, they can now exchange thoughts
and ideas inside the classroom. Teachers no longer spoon-feed the students, teachers give chance
to students to learn and discover more on their own. This focuses on the knowledge and skills that
graduates should be able to demonstrate.
Second, it is faculty driven, it encourages responsibility for teaching, for me it means that it gives
encouragement to teachers to do their responsibilities for teaching to ensure that students will
have a safe and productive learning environment. Assessing program outcomes, for me it means
that teachers assess the students achieved learning outcomes and can reliably demonstrate at the
end of the course/program. Lastly, motivating participation from students means that teachers
motivate their students by acknowledging the students for their participation in the class and other
extracurricular activities.
Third, it is meaningful, it provides data to guide the teacher in making valid and continuing
improvement in instructions and assessment activities, for me it means that OBE provides
students knowledge that will fully understood and learned effectively by the students, not just
only memorizing but acquiring it in a comprehensive way.

2. Distinguish among institutional, program, course and lesson outcomes.

ans.
To distinguish these 3 levels of outcomes. Institutional outcomes simply refers to the knowledge,
skills, abilities and attitude acquired by the students of their overall experiences in the institution
where they graduate.
While on the other hand, program outcomes refers to the significant and essential learning that
students achieved at the end of the degree.
Lastly, course or subject outcomes refers to the knowledge and learnings that students achieved
and can reliably demonstrate at the end of the course or subject. For me it refers to the mastery of
the content and subject matter.

Reflection:
Write your insights on your own program outcomes after you graduate the course.

After I graduate the course, I expect that I have learned the skills of being a teacher, it includes
what pedagogy/strategies do I take in order to do my task effectively. In terms of knowledge, I
expect that after I graduate the course I've acquired knowledge of being a teacher, it includes the
content on what I am about to discuss and teach to my students.bI am also expect that I am fully
equipped in terms of abilities. I know how to discipline and mold them to become the best version
of theirselves. Lastly in terms of attitude, I expect that someday I will become a good role model
to my learners, know how to empathize my students and colleagues and know how to act
professionally.
