Right way to contemplate.

Contemplation is about
this very moment. It is about what “is,” and what is
exists only in this moment. Contemplation is not
thinking about things, pondering the past, or imagining
an outcome.

Being Present
Contemplation

of Self, Mind, and Consciousness

Contemplating in the Present

Mind-wandering. I make myself aware of whether my mind is

wandering in the past and the future, by asking:

Am I thinking about this?

Am I pondering the past?
Am I imagining an outcome?

Focusing on the moment. If my mind is wandering, I let go and

redirect my attention to this very moment.

Let go.
Focus on the moment.

Contemplating. I explore how the object this very moment by

asking:

What is this in this very moment?

How does this appear in this very moment?
How does this exists only in this moment?

Presence. I focus on the object as it “is” in the moment.

Focus on how “this” is in this very moment.
